JAZZANOVA / VARIOUS
THE REMIXES 2002 – 2005
SONAR KOLLEKTIV

Jazzanova have long held a love affair with the remix, as, aside from the earlier “Remixes 1997-2000” collection, their debut set was also remixed in similar form. Here they collect together a few re-productions for other artists. The obvious choices are present, like the beat heavy, cult-status “Our Time Is Coming” by MAW Feat Roy Ayers; so too the shuffling “Let It Go” for Shawn Escoffrey, both typifying that dancefloor friendly sound fans will know and love. There’s also more adventurous work, like re-positioning disco classics in Afro-beat contexts – Status IV’s “You Ain’t Really Down” – and the total re-invention of Eddie Gale’s wonderful “Song Of Will”. Jazzanova are one of the most best production outfits working today, and – until they find time to release some original material – will make many a music lover very happy indeed.
