Back To Mine with Angelo Ceci

1. Pink Floyd – Hey You

Pink Floyd is undoubtely my favourite band and ever since I started to love the synths and the feeling of dreaming with the music.
Hey you is my favourite song of the double infamous album “The Wall”. In this track it is possible to hear the artist’s scream as he realizes that he made a mistake shutting himself away, and since he tries to get in touch with the outside world, without succeeding, the scream is not heard from outside because of… The wall.

2. DJ Rolando – Jaguar

This record introduced me to the techno-detroid world. I am truly fond of it and so is a big part of the nightlife crew, I believe. Sharp Hi-Hat, melodic and incisive loop, superlative theme and sometimes scary are the characteristics that I was stuck by. What I can say ? A techno masterpiece.

3. Kraftweark – Das Model

Immense. The lyric is about a model’s life and I was really impressed by the voice. A song written at the end of the 70’s which was an important period for the analog synthesizers. I love it <3

4. Jean Michel Jarre – Oxygene

Recap of a masterpiece, as it is full of synthesizers and the master multi-track of the whole album was made in a kitchen. A real master.

5. Jeff Mills – Sugar is Sweeter

My mentor, my example to perceive techno music. The kick prevails, leaving space to a sweet pad with a little attack (non so se puoi tradurlo cosi) and to a repeated synth for almost all the track without annoying who’s listening, all framed by an arpeggiator series that would never spoil.
Genius  <3

6. Schwefelgelb – Zu Zweit

A track to listen to, and why not to dance as well. I love the vocals and new wave synths of this track.

7. Aphex Twin – Xtal

Breathe, breathe and breath again with the magic that only Aphex can donate us.

8. Vitalic – Poison Lips

His “rock” sound is unique, because he is rock, he is powerful synth and decisive kick. Vitalic is a truly overwhelming trip.

9. Bjork – Pluto

When you are really angry, you can accentuate it with this electronic paranoia composed by drum’s moaning and syncopated synth with noise that would never hurt. Avant-garde.

10. Appart – Hold On

Here, the groove commands. Apparat, popular musician and producer, in this track he does not waste the time to show his quality by singing and by giving the song a sensation of sex appeals.

Angelo Ceci – 21g EP (Guendalina Records)

After a head turning debut, Guendalina Records follow it up with another fresh EP of house and techno innovation from Angelo Ceci, with remixes by established names Mr Ties and Reboot.
A skilled musician and drummer, Italian producer Angelo puts atypical and overwhelming sonorous impact at the heart of his live performance, always trying to shake the most secretly hidden emotions of his listeners. He is inspired by the broad likes of Aphex Twin and Placebo, Pink Floyd and Moderat, and that shows in his refreshing techno sound.
The opener here is the arresting ‘My Dear Fall’, a dark techno track with punchy 909 drums down low and heavenly pianos up top. The duality creates real tension and is sure to have an epic effect in the club. The vital and hard to characterise Mr Ties is one of the day’s most exciting producers and one of Berlin’s best DJs. He mixes up sounds, scenes and genres in unique ways and his standout remix is a fat techno roller with infectious drums and the sort of playful melody that gets hands in the air.
The excellent ‘Melan’ shows a different side to Ceci’s sound, with hypnotic, trance including pads softening the edges of a cantering techno line that echoes the machine warmth of Detroit, while mind melting synths burrow ever deeper. This one gets remixed by Reboot, the long-standing talent with releases on Cadenza and Cocoon. His version flips the original into a percussive, Latin laced track with many different rhythms and a real sense of live drumming that makes you shake your body.
The brilliant ’21 Grammi’ is eight off-kilter minutes of rugged drum programming that ties you in knots. It’s expressive minimalism that oozes soul and is perfect dancing material. Last of all, ‘Rope’ is a high-pressure techno track that gets you on your toes and has subtle acid lines dancing round with soulful pads. It’s absorbing stuff for body and mind.
