After a solid year, DJ Phonon has set his sights on a massive 2018. The DJ/Producer’s prowess has taken strides over the last twelve months, and he is ready to kick start his next set of releases with a bang. We caught up with him to explore some of his biggest inspirations and favourite music which helped him become so creative.
Major Lazer – Get Free ft. Amber of the Dirty Projectors
Major Lazer are one of my top producers these days and make great music; I love listening to their stuff. I like the way they use Reggae and Dub in their music, and this track is a small snippet of some of their production skills. It’s a great video as well!
Lorn – Acid Rain
When I first heard this track I was blown away! I had never heard anything quite like it. Ever since then I have been a Hugh fan of Lorn. The video is incredible as well.
DJ Snake, AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It
I am always looking for music with great female vocals, and this track really does it for me. DJ Snake is a great producer and I love listening to this track for inspiration!
Kidnap Kid – Birds That Fly
This is one of the more recent tracks I have been listening to. I found myself walking around the airport listening to this track on repeat, and I love the chord progression and the simplicity of the track. Not to mention the beat!

I should probably have put more tracks like this in my list!
Bob Marley and The Wailers – Soul Rebels
How could i NOT put a Bob Marley track on the list. So many good tracks, and he’s an absolute legend.
Son Lux – Easy (Official Video)
I love the use of the brass instruments in this track and the fact it has such a chilled-out vibe. It creates quite the ambience.
FKA twigs – Two Weeks
I love this track, and Tahliah’s voice is just incredible. This track takes me away, there’s so much feeling and I think the music really emphasises the emotion in her voice.
Major Lazer – Too Original (feat. Elliphant & Jovi Rockwell) (Official Music Video)
Yep! Another Major Lazer track, and such a crazy one too. The production effects on the voice and the horns are great. So much energy with a great drop too. Love it!
Skrillex & Team EZY (ft. NJOMZA) – Pretty Bye Bye
I have always been so intrigued with Skrillex’s music. He is a diverse, fantastic producer and this track shows another side to his skills.
