Back To Mine with Eli Brown

Ahead of the release of his Jungle Cry EP alongside Mason Maynard on Relief, the drum n bass producer turned house guru puts together a playlist of his afterparty essentials.

1. Gangstarr – Full Clip

I had to include a Gangstarr track as if you were to come back to mine you’d see that 90’s hip hip is a firm favourite of mine. DJ premier knows how to make a catchy beat and Guru’s flow is dope, a classic in my opinion! In fact the whole Full Clip album is full of bangers, make sure you give it a listen.

2. Chemical Brothers – Loops of Fury

This is one of the Chemical Brothers lesser know tunes but probably my all time favourite. I had a video game when I was a kid called Wipeout which featured the track and its stuck with me ever since! Sick beats and trippy synths, defo going to get you a little wavey at 7am!

3. Roni Size – Brown Paper Bag

This one defo shows my drum and bass roots and a guaranteed banger. Brown Paper Bag was the lead track from Roni Size’s new forms album which won the Mercury music prize back in 1997, something that was a massive deal for electronic music and Bristol at the time and definitely shaped my musical influences growing up.

4. A Guy called Gerald – Voodoo Ray

One of the best dance music records ever made in my opinion, everyone knows it and why its a firm after party favourite. I sometime wish I could step back in time and go our raving in the late 80’s early 90’s as this was such a golden period of dance music.

5. Orbital – Chime

If you were to come back tom mine this would no doubt get played as its got all the right ingredients for those 6am sunrise vibes, euphoric synths and amazing break downs!

6. Massive Attack – Unfinished Sympathy

Another track from Bristol, and there’s about 5 or 6 Massive attack tunes I could have chosen but this one has to be my all time favourite. Hard to believe this came out in 1991, I was a kid at the time but friends older brothers and sisters were always playing this track and its a testament to Massive attack as it still sounds so great today. There was definitely something in the water in the early to mid 90s, Bristol produced some great music during that period and really inspired me as a child.

7. Steve Bug – White Times

First heard Richy Ahmed play this a couple of years back and I was like what the hell is this tune! Managed to track it down and its been a firm favourite of mine ever since, believe it or not its 18 years old! Love everything about it, 80’s vibes with a sick groove! Steve Bug is a don!

8. Hans Zimmer – Time

This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and definitely one of my favourite songs to just sit back and listen to. Hans Zimmer is the best of the best one it comes to movie sound tracks and its clear to see why, this peace of music really sparks emotion, something I think all really good music should do.

9. Floorplan – Music

What a tune, perfect trippy after party vibes on this one! Floor plan is definitely one of my favourite acts, his music doesn’t follow trends, its just really good house, techno & disco music done properly. This tunes keeps building and building, really epic vibes!

10. Roger Sanchez – Another Chance

When this came out I was first going out clubbing to Ibiza and have very fond memories of this tune playing in the main room of Pacha and at countless afterparties so had to include it. Feel good vibes all round on this!
