LTJ Bukem – Inner Guidance

I wanted to put LTJ Bukems Cosmic Interlude (12“ mix) in the list but since no video of this track is uploaded to youtube “Inner Guidance“ popped up as the first result while searching. I totally forgot about this track and had an instant re-listen which settled my mood just right to be mentioned in this list.

Nuwalker Feat. Ken Cesar – Second of September

A not quite usual and difficult to mix house track I found on Carl Craigs The Workout Compilation. The sketchy drums and soulful vocals on this one will get your dance floor shakin’.

Black Ink – Untitled B3 (Ultimate Track EP)

Raw and (according to some discogs comment) un mastered us-house groove with tribute lyrics to the 1993 already established house masters. Gets the heads nodding and the feet moving.

Busta Rhymes & DJ Skribble – Everybody, Come On

Even tho if I don’t really follow his music for over a decade or so, I will always have a little bit of love for Busta since he visited my provincial hometown for a gig in 2007. Also worth checking out the UK’ish early 2000 twist on this track for some peak time action:

DJD – In the Hood

Millenial LoFi Hip Hop Bubbler on D.J. D’s Debut album “The Workers Union“. Smoove samples, Melancholic lyrics and a catchy hook which is going to stay in your mind for days.

Mad Professor & Chuck D – At Least American Indian People Know Exactly How They’ve Been Fucked Around

Recently discovered this deep dub gem on a Guidiance Recordings Sampler which I got for christmas from the owner of my favourite second hand record store. The whole compilation is worth a listen tho.

Tosca – Chocolate Elvis (Rockers HiFi Vocal Version)

This track is from my probably most loved Remix compilation ever. Started diving into the world of electronic music with this one in the mid 2000s. Try the Rockers HiFi Version in deejay sets for setting the downtempo vibe just right.

Robert Ashley – The Backyard

Robert Ashley was a master in pairing left field sounds with deep spoken word vocals. On this one the organic drum groove constantly accompanies the vocals throughout the track while synthesizer sounds evolving slowly in the background and telling a story of their own.

Iannix Xenakis – Pithoprakta

I can only think of two situations where you really want to play something of Xenakis work as an DJ to your audience. Either you are invited to play for a bunch of intellectuals who eventually are into stochastic music, or its 8 am, you playing in a club tired a.f. and the crowd is off their tits and don’t want to go home. Even if the results may vary in both situations Xenakis work should not be overlooked!

Pépé Bradock – Rhapsody In Pain (Live)

People are still not moving home after some Xenakis stuff? No problem, good old pepe gets you covered with his moan heavy, irritating soundtrack for your personal dance floor psychosis. Get down with the weirdness!
