Back To Mine with jackLNDN

Waiting Line – Zero 7

I discovered this band almost a decade ago and have never looked back. Always admired how they mix very chilled vibes with great songwriting and a tonne of musicality. This track is probably one of their finest.

Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line

You Got The Style – Athlete

I became a huge fan of this band when I was a teenager, they had a dope blend of indie, pop, funk and a touch of electronic. The album this is from ‘Vehicles & Animals’ is one of my all time favourites. Just the right amount of weird mixed with catchiness.

Got To Be Real – Cheryl Lynn

Just a groovy classic. I think It was one of the earlier disco records that burrowed into my head and never left. It’s a challenge to get through this song without moving or shaking something.

Thankful For What You Got – William DeVaughn

Silky smooth music, with some serious groove to it. I can’t stop listening to the baseline on this track. They don’t make them like this anymore.

Fantasy – Earth Wind & Fire

There is a live version of this song on the ‘Plugged In and Live’ released in 1996 which literally blows my mind every time I hear it. The vocals are just insane. The original is great, but once you hear this version you will never want to go back. Also worth mentioning the album is my all time #1 fav.

Sunday Morning – Maroon 5

Again this whole album is dope, it was heavily overplayed for a long time but the music on it stands the test of time. For me the best album they ever made, mostly because its got a tonne of soul and really really tight production.

Hymn To Freedom – Oscar Peterson Trio

A nod to the jazz that I grew up around. Oscar is my favourite player hands down, and this is my favourite track from my favourite record of his ‘Night Train’. It never fails to put me in a wonderful place.

You Don’t Love Me – The Kooks

A bunch of high energy teen angst wrapped up in nutshell. I was rather obsessed with this band for my teen years.

Newjack – Justice

This whole album changed the game for me. I think it was the first truly electronic album I came across. I remember it took me by surprise the first time I heard it, their sound palette was so beyond what I was used to at the time. I was hooked and it got me searching for more french magic.

Digital Love – Daft Punk

Talking of french magic… it wouldn’t be right to leave them out of a list like this. This particular track reminds me of a new years eve during a simpler time in my life. The robots had a huge influence on my sound especially the 2007 live album
