Jay James ‘Heads Vs Hearts’ Film Trilogy

How could I not plug my own stuff right? I wrote & co-directed this for my first album, It’s features Booker T. Jones and some killer production from Malay. I shot it out in Minneapolis, it cost around £1500 to make including my flights, the label at the time were suspect to letting me create, after I did they loved it! The general concept around the Heads vs Hearts Trilogy was that the music tells the story. Unless it’s presented to them right nowadays a lot of people don’t listen to lyrics. I wrote the narrative of the film around the lyrics of 4 songs that were connected by real emotion and real events in my life, with no words, just visuals in the film. People would have to engage with those lyrics, story, tone and intent of my voice to really know what’s going on. In doing that, the hope was they could put themselves in the piece. Check it out & watch till the end!
