Back To Mine with Malachi

Hamilton Bohannon – Let’s Start The Dance

If you were “Back To Mine” you’d certainly hear a few disco classics being played and this would be one of them! I’ve got fond memories of Dennis Ferrer dropping this at Southport Weekender a few years ago, what a breakdown!

Fat Freddys Drop – Roady

A friend of mine introduced me to Fat Freddys Drop back in 2008, I love their fusion of dub, reggae, jazz, electronic and soul. Their debut album “Based On A True Story” is an absolute classic in our household!

Patrice Rushen – Haven’t You Heard (Joey Negro Extended Disco Mix)

Taking it back to my disco roots again on this one, I love what Dave (Joey Negro) has done to this. If you haven’t already heard his “Remixed With Love’ compilations check them out.

Bonobo – Cirrus

Bonobo has been quite a recent discovery of mine and his music is perfect to play at an all “Back To Mine’ session. He’s definatly up there on my must see live artists this year!

Pat Thomas & Kwashibu Area Band – Gyae Su

I love artists like Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti, The Funkees so when I heard this track pop up on my Spotify account the other week my ear pricked up immediately! What a groove, you might hear a Malachi edit of this coming soon.

Bill Withers – Use Me

When the sun comes out and we’re in the garden it’s almost garanteed you’ll hear some Bill Withers. What an amazing song writer and vocalist of course, if you haven’t seen the “Still Bill’ documentary yet check it out!

Rodrigo y Gabriela – Tamacun

Wow! I would love to see these guys live also, i’ve purposely put a link to the live version of this track so you guys can see their amazing talents on the guitar.

Tom Baxter – Tell Her Today

Not many people would know this, but I do love a lot of singer/songwriter alternative music, Tom Baxter is one of those. I first heard him on BBC Radio 2 quite a few years back now, he’s one of those very under-rated artists who not many people have heard of.

Hot 8 Brass Band – Sexual Healing

Me and the Mrs went to see these guys live last year on my birthday, wow they were LOUD and amazing of course. Their cover of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing was the highlight of their set, we also love the film ‘Chef’ where this track appears on.

Crazy P – Heartbreaker

Crazy P (previously known as Crazy Penis until they changed their name!) regularly gets played in our house, Chris Todd the main producer has a solo guise ‘“Hot Toddy” too which I play in my DJ sets too.

Malachi ‘Burning’ (Milk & Sugar Recordings)

Malachi (pronounced Mal-a-kai)… DJ / Producer since 2000: (aka Audiowhores, Graham Lord, Word of Mouth)
“Malachi” is the new frontier for this well established artist who despite being young & progressive was quoted as being a “House Music Veteran” by Toolroom Records in 2015. Such accolade is deserving to a non-stop career spanning 16 years which has seen Malachi collaborate with some of the industry’s finest, whilst delivering a constant stream of top notch original productions, remixes and technically brilliant DJ sets to boot.
Earlier productions saw release after release as Audiowhores on Soulfuric, Peppermint Jam & MN2S with collaborations with the likes of Kathy Brown, Julia McKnight, Ce Ce Peniston, Barbara Tucker and Loletta Holloway on vocals.
Fast forward 7 years and you’ll find a quantum leap from soulful house to tech / deep house that only served to magnify Malachi’s presence on Beatport & Traxsource. What followed can only be described as an onslaught of releases on the mighty imprints Defected, Toolroom, Noir and Lapsus featuring collaborations with Stee Downes, The Shapeshifters, Joey Negro, Alex Mills and Mr V to name but a few.
With a repertoire like this you find yourself asking…. What Next?
Malachi is on the move and ready to take that quantum leap again. He is about to ‘up the ante’ so to speak and musical freedom is his goal. Malachi will not fail to deliver. In fact he’s set to continue to rack em up & knock em down!
His new release „Burning“ on German imprint Milk & Sugar Recordings is turning up the heat with thrilling piano chords and an irresistible vocal hook. This summer number is bringing pure joy to your face from the first minute listening and is a save candidate for the 2016 Ibiza season.
‘Burning’ is out now.
