Oldrich Sic Jr. – Down to Detail EP (MYR)

This Czech born, Austria based artist has held many club and radio residencies since 1997. He is behind Prague Electric, a party series and soon to be label that deals in giving a platform to fresh young talent. He’s released on a range of labels and now shows off his powerful sound once more.
Opener ‘Well’ is a brooding track with a molten lead synth that rumbles away as drums build and fall away around it. The tension mounts with glitchy claps to a real crescendo, and when the kicks land properly the roof of any club is sure to be blown off. It’s economical but hugely effective techno with a truly forceful presence.
On the flip, ‘Thought Out’ is just as supersized, but with ripping acid lines and blurting synths fleshing out the heavyweight drums. Poised chords add a sombre mood to the grooves and ensure that real feelings match with genuine function to compete this most devastating weapon.
