Herbie is one of my greatest heroes and Butterfly is a perfect example of his fusion of jazz and mellow, but extremely groovy, funk from the seventies. Benny Maupin’s bass clarinet will caress your spine like boa constrictor of love.

Netherlands based producer Trian always hits the spot with gorgeous chords, innovative production and bittersweet melodies.
Peeano – Nothing2Something
Another hauntingly beautiful track with forward thinking production, perfect for those melancholic moments. Peeano also happens to reside in the Netherlands. Must be all the tulips they eat over there.
Gino Vannelli – Storm At Sunup
Gino Vannelli’s early records were part of the soundtrack to my childhood. Storm At Sunup is one my favorite tracks of his. Goes from calm and soothing to a bit of a frenzy then back again. Instant nostalgia for me.

Stan Tracey – Starless And Bible Black
Got turned onto this amazing smokey and dusty jazz number by Scottish DJ Rebecca Vasmant. She’s obsessed with this track and I understand why. Soul melting and mind expanding.
Tomita – Claire De Lune
Tomita has been a huge inspiration for me. His electronic renditions of classical music in the seventies are absolutely mind blowing. His sonic landscapes, thanks to literally tons of modular synths, were so ahead of his time.
Telefon Tel Aviv – Stolen Moments
Oliver Nelson’s jazz classic gets the rework treatment by Telefon Tel Aviv. No beats, just lush and glorious strings with a few bits of the original, sparkled with little electronic glitches here and there. Never underestimate the power of strings!
Vangelis – Blade Runner Main Titles
The amazing soundtrack to one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time. Instantly takes you into space, no space ship required.
