Back To Mine with Rhemi Music

Neil Pierce

Peabo Bryson – I’ve Been Down (Capitol Records)

I’m a massive Rare Groove fan and this masterpiece has it all for the steppers. A real heartfelt vocal, amazing arrangement, beautiful strings, it’s just a perfect record in my eyes.

Tenor Saw – Golden Hen (Uptempo Records)

My first real musical love was reggae, and Tenor Saw always delivered the goods in his unique style and delivery. This did, and still would smash up any reggae dance !!

Paul Weller – You Do Something To Me (Go! Discs)

In my opinion Paul Weller is one of the best song writers of our time. This track carries raw emotion, beautiful lyrics and real soul.

Jill Scott – 42nd Street (Hidden Beach)

I just love the way Jill Scott always tells a story in her song writing that is relatable and tends to pull on emotions. She doesn’t try to sugar coat any subject and I love her for that.

Donny Hathaway – Giving Up (Atco)

This was a cover of the Gladys Knights and the Pips original version, but in my view knocks the original out the park.  Donnie is one of my all time favorite vocalists because of the emotion that he encapsulated in his performances. Press play and tell me this song doesn’t touch your soul.

Ziggy Funk:

Tom Misch – Memory

I love the vibe on this record and Tom is a great English talent and one that everyone should know about.

Cameo – Back and Forth

Cameo are one of my favourite groups and a big inspiration for me. This track is too damn funky.

Henry Wu – Croydon Depot

Another great English talent and this tune really shows off his skills and how Henry gets down with music. You can hear so many great flavours each time you listen to it.

Janelle Monae – Tightrope

Hearing this song in the morning always lifts me up when I don’t feel like doing anything and motivates me to get on with the day with a great big smile.

Root Source – Fire Walker

Always love when this record comes on when I’m on random mode on my music player. Killer musicianship and the crazy melody ideas always blow mind!
