Back To Mine with VridianMusic

One only needs to look to India to see how influential the Internet has been in spreading new sounds across the globe. One such Indian duo that have been particularly inspired by house and techno sounds are VridianMusic. The latest producers to join Canadian label RF Music, theirs is a solid techno sound that’s sure to win admirers aplenty as their stock grows. With this in mind, we nabbed them for a quick chat recently, as they talked us through some of their ‘Back to Mine’ anthems. A nice mix of up-tempo and more restrained gems, they seem to have nailed the task with aplomb…

Matador – Bam Bam

Absolute banger of a track, this was also the first track of Richie Hawtins legendary boiler room set in Amsterdam a few years back and is released on his imprint, Minus. The track consists of twisted soundscapes enveloping the power packed drums, creating a rather energetic and minimalistic vibe. This tune is bound to take down any techno dancefloor.

Plastikman – Korridor

Korridor is one of our all time favourites by non other then the maestro himself, Plastikman (Richie Hawtin). Its dark atmospheric and haunting sounds draw you into a pensive and take you on a journey as the track progresses.

Nina Kraviz – Taxi Talk (Urban Tribe Don’t Lie To Nina Remix)

Having a steady build up with raw sounding drums, the track starts to get intense with the 303 coming in, it then opens up with the pads and percussive elements blending in right after. Urban Pipes has done nothing but justice to this original by the legendary Nina Kraviz in this remix.

Oliver Huntemann – They Are (Not) After You

We’ve been die-hard fans of Oliver Huntemann and almost everything he makes really gets us moving. This track has a very uplifting progression as it starts of with a solid groove the melody and bass coming in, after the break down is becomes wicked and dives into a more hypnotic tangent with the groove taking everything else together. “Paranoia”, the album from which we’ve picked this track really impacts our taste in music in a big way, back in the day this one definitely made it to the playlist, which we heard on repeat!

The Chemical Brothers – The Private Psychedelic Reel

An old school favourite from the 90’s by the one of our greatest inspirations, these guys are definitely one of our heros as we’ve been following them since our day in school. Their music definitely brought more spark to our childhood and introduced us to a different style of music completely. The Chemical Brothers ended their iconic performance at Woodstock 1999’ with this particular track. It’s extremely influenced by Indian music, which makes it more special as it quite exciting to see how people are fusing other genres and sounds with music which was first devised in our country. It starts of with a hook that sounds like a sitar which then breaks into a highly energetic drum groove which is maintained through the course of the track with multiple rolls and fills. It then breaks into a flute and which keeps the journey going.

SHFT – Retard

This track is by one of our favourite producers from our motherland, it’s one bass heavy tune with with a roaring raw sound. The modulation on the bass during the breakdowns is absolutely mind bending as it gives more emphasis to the overall groove. Definitely one of those high-energy tunes which give you goosebumps on a dancefloor and otherwise.

Kris Davis – Petroleum

This track is rather deceiving when you hear it for the first time, as it starts of with a simple drum groove and extremely calming and atmospheric soundscapes after which all of a sudden, it’s greeted with a thick and roaring bassline which completely changes the vibe of the track and brings an increase in its energy level. Personally, this tracks takes brings out a lot of mixed emotions and triggers the psychological aspect of music in many ways.

Oliver Huntemann – Magnet (Victor Ruiz Remix)

Nothing short of being called a banger, a perfect reinterpretation by Victor Ruiz of a track that already made its mark.

Trentemoller – Miss You

Intermingling between darkness and light, this track takes you to places and bring backs memories. Always admired Trentemoller for the genius he is and a big fan of how he uses field and folly to give direction in his tracks. This track is symbolic of one of these journeys, from the atmospheric swelling pads to the little synths and drone sounds everything is blended into this track perfectly. Recently we came across a video where Butch blended this track in extremely well with a dancefloor banger, it was quite thrilling to watch as it just worked so well!
