Back to Mine with L’Equipe Du Son

70’s and 80’s movies have always made a great impact on me and my music,  the influence is clear when you listen to my album ‘Ultrasonic Love Waves’ I hope that USLW takes you on a journey, just like those classic movies did for me. DMC asked me to compile a Back To Mine track list, I thought why not share some of these teen flick moments with you.

1. Jackson Browne – Somebody’s Baby (Fast Times At Ridgemont High)

Wow, this movie, what can I tell you?! I have had a major crush on Phoebe Cates since I can remember. But doesn’t everybody? (and still does) after seeing this movie.

2. Oh Yeah –  Yello (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)

Aww yeah skip school with your girl and steel your best friend Dad’s Ferrari, classic. Back then you could throw a baseball at your receiver (last scene of the clip), because you had a tape deck of solid build and full metal jacket quality. I actually still play this track in my sets sometimes, it’s vintage, just like the movie.

3. Simple Minds – Don’t You Forget About Me (Breakfast Club)

This list wouldn’t be complete without The Breakfast Club. I must confess that I wanted to be Bender’ (the criminal) and Emilio (the jock), but Anthony Michael Hall (the geek), he played all the good flicks.

4. Thompson Twins – If You Were Here (Sixteen Candles)

Yes, sometimes the geek gets the hot chick! There’s still hope for us, and the world as we know it.  Don’t give up.

5. Oingo Boingo – Weird Science (Weird Science)

Ah Oingo Boingo, it doesn’t get more corny than that folks, but that’s what the 80’s were all about and I loved it.  To this very day ‘Lisa’ is the best computer program ever invented. Eat your heart out Apple!

6. Miles Goodman – Boof (Teen Wolf)

“Boof” is Scott’s closest friend and secretly he has the hots for him, but he doesn’t notice because he has this fixation on hottie Pamela Wells. Yeah I guess we’ve all been there. The music is a great piece of cheesy FM synthesizer music and it wins me over!

7. Starship – “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” (Mannequin)

haha mullets still rock!! Come on admit it who had one? And there really is no shame in singing along – tune in to your guilty pleasures.

8. New Order – Shell Shock (Pretty in Pink)

A poor girl must choose between the affections of her doting childhood sweetheart and a rich but sensitive playboy. Man, the struggles life throws at us.

9. L’Equipe du Son – Familiar Stranger (Ultrasonic Love Waves)

I was inspired to make an album, as a homage to all these 80s movies, the album is called ‘Ultrasonic Love Waves’ and these two single releases are featured on the debut ‘Familiar Stranger’ and ‘Night Drive’  – I hope you enjoy listening.

10. L’Equipe du Son – Night Drive (Ultrasonic Love Waves)

The story holds many different scenes, I tried to make music that expresses the ‘feeling’ of a particular scene, whether it is a love scene or an intergalactic battle.
