Eric B & Rakim ‘Follow The Leader’
Classic hip hop from the best rapper this planet has ever witnessed in our life time.  Simple.  “the microphone is a magnum murdering mc’s°± – You know the rest!
LTJ Bukem  ‘Music’
Hearing this always reminds me of running across a field at a Universe party in the early nineties.  We’d only heard this tune on tapes and we had to hear it on a big system.  Boom, next level jungle music in the making…
Raekwon ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx’
From the belly of the beast of Hip-Hop, all round dope shit; lyrics, beats, arrangement.  Rza and Rae at their stunning best.  From that day onwards the rest were all playing catch up.
Adonis ‘Adonis’
A house tune that went up to the next level.  Even if you didn’t like house you liked this tune.  Simple but effective big dirty stinkin’ bass – play it loud!
Anything from the Two-Tone movement – The Specials, The Beat, Selector, Bad Manners…
It would be wrong of me to try and single out just one tune that touched me.  For me it was the whole movement that changed my life – songs that had both meaning and attitude.  Mod or Rocker which one where you!?…
T La Rock  ‘It’s Yours’
“Commentating, illustrating, description giving adjective expert analyzing somebody musical mystery people of the universe, this is yours.”  Where on middle earth have you heard lyrics like this?!  Simply genius.
Chic ‘Good Times’
The ultimate party tune.  If you’re in the party and this is played its all over.  We all know the words so there no excuse…
Africa Bambaataa and The Soul Sonic Force  ‘Planet Rock’
For me this was one for the first electro hip-hop tunes that made a mark.  Classic 808 drum machine and the “rock rock, don’t stop” vocals made this tune an anthem.
Michael Jackson  ‘Billie Jean’
Michael was at his best when this tune came out and we loved it.  I got two copies and cut them up – at that time for me it was all about DJing so the long intro was a blessing.  Thanks Mike!
Eat Beat Manifesto ‘Radio Babylon’
It was all about being in the fields at 6 o’clock in the morning and hearing this.  The arrangement, the sounds, the vibe – I totally knew what was these guys were on when they made this.
