Layers Of Sound & The Demetrious Project

Mike

The Sunburst Band –  He Is (Ian Friday Tea Party Mix) – (Z Records)
I’m a huge fan of all Dave Lee’s work, and have been a big supporter of his releases over the years, in particular ‘He Is’. I’m really feeling Ian Friday’s latest treatment, which gives this beautiful track another airing. Good early evening set mix.

Sunkids feat. Chance – Rise Up (Thomas Gold Remix) – (Boss Recordings)
My ‘if all else fails’ track. This never fails to get the crowd going and puts a smile on everyone’s face when I DJ. Loving Thomas Gold’s arrangement on this. So uplifting! –

Loleatta Holloway –  Stand Up (Audiowhores Re-edit) – (Gossip)
An absolute classic track stunningly re-worked by the Audiowhores, and an amazing vocal performance from Loleatta Holloway. This mix has consistently found its way into my DJ sets over the years, and will for years to come –

Hercules And Love Affair –  Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix) –  (DFA Records)
Gorgeous top quality Sunday afternoon house music. Could listen to this on repeat for hours, it’s so fresh, but also sounds like a classic at the same time. Frankie Knuckles delivers yet again. Those keys are just stunning. Love it! –

Demetrios

Whitney Houston, ‘I will always love you’ (Arista)
I know mentioning this track might not be ‘cool’ but I don’t care: Whitney’s rendition of this Dolly Parton classic is exceptional.  Whitney has both: a beautiful voice and the ability to take it where other singers fear to go!

Angie Stone, ‘Wish I didn’t miss you’ (Arista)
Angie can preach to me any day!  Her music is full of genuine African-American soul and I can’t help but sit down and actually listen to her lyrics.

Bob Sinclair featuring Steve Edwards, ‘World hold on (Children of the sky)’ (Defected)
I love Steve Edwards’ vocal and the song itself sends out a very real message; a classic example of what can be achieved when you combine House music with traditional song-writing.

Bilonda

Anne Ducros, “Four” (Via Dell’ Arte. 2005)
A Miles Davis jazz classic performed by one of the top french jazz singer of the moment. Great vocal execution. Each and every single note in the right place. And tasty too.

Camille, “Au Port” (Source/Virgin Music/EMI France. 2005)
I’ve been rediscovering French music lately. Her last album, “Le Fil”, is just one surprise after another.

Baloji, “Tout ceci ne vous rendra pas le Congo” (EMI Belgium. 2008)
French speaking hip hop made in Belgium (Vive la Belgique!), very critical with the social and political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Layers of Sound & The Demetrios Project ‘Feel Alive’ will be released April 14th 2008 on Layers Of Sound Recordings (UK)
