STU ALLAN

01. Grandmaster Flash – The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel (Sugarhill) 1981
Apart from being one of the greatest records ever made, it was this that made me want to get serious behind the decks.

02. Visual – The Music’s Got Me (Prelude) 1983
Uplifting, great vocals, bassline & groove. I can still picture Greg Wilson, back in ’83, chop-mixing this to great effect at Legend, Manchester. After seeing Greg, I definitely wanted to be a DJ!

03. D Train – Keep On (Prelude) 1982
I could’ve chosen pretty much any D Train 12″! They’re all excellent. Incredible production for it’s time! I chose this because it was their longest (!)

04. Gary’s Gang – Makin’ Music [Dub] (CBS) 1982
Eric Matthew was an amazing writer & producer. This is just one his many masterpieces! A massive Electrofunk floorfiller.

05. Herbie Hancock – I thought It Was You (Columbia) 1978
Vocoder vocals at their best! A very complicated piece of music that sounds so simple.

06. Dan Hartman – Vertigo/Relight My Fire (Blue Sky) 1979
I still get bowled over by this guy’s talent for writing & producing. Just brilliant!

07. Malcolm McLaren and World’s Famous Supreme Team Show – D’Ya Like Scratchin? (Charisma) 1982
From the ‘Scratchin’ LP which has a great atmosphere throughout of New York radio in ’82. Phone requests etc. A style of radio that, very sadly, is long gone.

08. Kraftwerk – The Robots (Capitol) 1978
How brilliant and influential are these? Blew me away when I first heard this nearly 30 years ago!

09. Assia & Doc Gyneco – Mauvais Garçon (EMI) 2002
I’m quite a fan of French RnB (yes, really!). There’s some amazing stuff being made out there. They have a great talent for melodies & production.

10. The Eagles – One Of These Nights  (Asylum) 1975
Eagles are brilliant. Melodies, arrangements etc etc.  This one they got everything just right.

Hardcore Adrenaline mixed by Stu Allan and DJ Seduction is out now…
