Tortured Soul

1. Michael Jackson -“Rock With You” (Off The Wall)
Classic disco. Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton – all in absolute top form  Three artists I love and many more amazing musicians on that record collaborating to create one of the most timeless pieces of pop music ever.

2. Stevie Wonder – “Send One Your Love” (The Secret Life of Plants)
Spooky, beautiful suggestion that true love still exists – one of the best sophisticated integrations of his harmonica playing into his music.

3. John Coltrane- “Say It (Over and Over Again”)  (John Coltrane Ballads)
It’s hard to pick a favorite off this album, but this track will calm the most savage beast and engage him to enjoy a transcendental experience.

4.Led Zeppelin  – “Whole Lotta”/ “dazed and confused”  (Led Zeppelin 2)
This song (sorry it’s 2 songs actually)  helps to define a genre of music.
It should be in that space capsule that scientists have shot into space that has vital information for the understanding of the human race.

5.Chaka Kahn “Angel” (Funk This)
Proof that some talent never wains and new R&B can still have melody.

6. Marvin Gaye “What’s Happening Brother” (What’s Going On)
Love this one for the deep message regarding war’s toll on young men.

7. Issa Bagayogo “Banani” (Timbuktu)
Electronic Malian music at its finest.

8. Antonio Carlos Jobim and Elis Regina “Só Tinha de Ser Com Você” (Elis e Tom)
From the first Brazilian record I ever bought “Elis e Tom,” and still one of my favorites.  Gorgeous lilting melody and lyrics, relaxed yet still incredibly funky.

9. Prince “I Wanna Be Your Lover” (Prince)
Not only does Prince wanna be your lover, he wants to be your mother and your sister, too.  Nuff said?  Oh, and any DJ who mixes out of this track before the extended jam at the end should have his hands cut off.

10. Radiohead “All I Need” (In Rainbows)
This album has some of their best songwriting yet, and this track is the crown jewel, simple and hauntingly perfect.  Must be listened to in the dark on headphones.

Tortured Soul ‘Another Lover’ ft remixes from Dimitri from Paris, Tom Moulton & more  will be released on September 7th 2009 on Dome Records UK.
