Andrew Galea

Only a sprinkling of artists within the industry can command the respect, accolades and appeal that Andrew Galea has attained. Even today, electronic music veterans reference his DJ and production work as ‘A master of his craft, across a multitude of house music forms’.

With over 20 years of experience tracked-up, Galea, even today continues to re-write history with the force and imagination of his latest tracks. Having achieved a succession of landmark roles (ex-head of A&R for Dave Lambert at Strictly Rhythm / Ikonik and current Director at Rekk’d Records) has firmly established him on the front-line of the performing, producing and remixing of legendary tunes – under his names such as Sol Brothers, Freestylers, DJ Bomba, Nightstylers, and Solasso.

“I have been incredibly lucky and performed pretty much all over the world – I just love travelling and enjoying the energy of the crowds I spin for. When this crisis is over, I still want to keep on spreading my House music gospel worldwide. I enjoy every gig, especially when the crowd is up for it and even to this day, I always get that warm, lovely feeling towards dance music every time I hear a great tune or play to a great crowd. ” – Andrew Galea

Production and Dj’ing are clear forte’s of Galea, who has received critical acclaim from sources such as Muzik Magazine, the MOBO Awards and his collaboration on Journeys By DJ – JDJ Triptonite (Jason Moore / Tomislav). Currently represented by Exactia agency, he has attracted a resounding praise of his talents which has seen remixes for the likes of Technotronic, Rihanna and his chart topper as Sol Brothers with Kathy Brown’s 90’s ‘Turn Me Out‘ along with his Freestylers B Boy Stance. This showcases the fact that Galea’s versatility and skill as a producer is still highly sought after from all corners of the music globe. Today is no different, with more recent productions for the likes of Robin S, Sonique Clarke, Sybil, Angie Brown and Big Brother’s Chelsea Singh forming a line for international airplay.“

These days, social media is everything. You can engage with your followers, community and release all your latest work across channels such as Facebook, Mixcloud and Instagram for instant exposure. I see live-streaming as a noticeably big part of my future career, I have performed and presented on events such as VR-20, Radio RUAR’s ‘Man Down: Part I’, Catch The Feeling and Dream Fest. I look forward to developing this side of the industry within my future career plans. ”- Andrew Galea

Having been forced to take a step back from live-sets due to the COVID crisis, Galea has found himself taking time out and getting back to family values. Being confined at home with wife and four daughters has allowed him to achieve a harmonious balance between family life and the production of new materials and collaborations. With yet another brand new live-streaming business project (with renowned DJVJ artist Habs Akram) in motion and a prime monthly set on Select Radio, Cool FM and Atmosphere Radio’sNocturnal Radio Show’, Galea hasn’t been resting on his laurels. These engagements sit alongside his additional weekly Mi House Radio Thursday night sets and upcoming release under Andy Galea & Marcella Woods ‘Suitcase At The Door’ on Flipside Records, with more to follow from his Rekk’d label in the coming months.

Will Dj’ing return to the way things were before? For certain, he assures us; “ Of course I want to get back out and perform again. But thankfully, I have an army of fans and fellow DJ’s that subscribe to my new material and on-line sets, daily. Why can’t I have the best of both worlds? If the past nine months have taught me anything, it’s about taking stock of what you have, but looking to the future. You could say that it has made me into something of a Stream Believer.”
