Parisian electropop pair Thibault Hisquin and Adrien Baudin return to the release radar with their newest endeavor ‘Beg It’, an atmospheric, larger-than-life electronic dance music masterpiece that features shimmering production elements alongside soaring bass drops and rhythmically entrancing vocals. DMCWORLD dive in for a world exclusive…

Hey guys a huge welcome to DMCWORLD! What was your production process like working on your new single ‘Beg For It’?

It’s great to be here! So the first draft was born in one night, we had just one break and the drop. From there, it was probably one of the longest processes we’ve had on the album. Since it has such a simple melody, a lot of work went into making it interesting. We spent one and half years reworking/fine tuning the song until we were satisfied, adding new vocals, changing the arrangement, etc. Towards the end we had the idea of adding a rapper over the last chorus as our “Linkin Park & Jay-Z moment”, it proved to be the missing piece we were looking for.

Your highly-anticipated forthcoming album is slated for release later in the year — so far, what’s been the single most rewarding aspect of crafting it?

Our best reward is finding our identity while making this album. Making songs that were part of a cohesive ensemble instead of singles gave us the environment we needed to define ourselves.

You’ve been producing music as Digitalz since 2017 — where and how do you see your unique sound progressing moving forward over the course of the next four years?

We’ll never limit ourselves to genres and we’ll always try to bring something new to the table. Also, some of the songs in this album were produced 4 years ago, so our upcoming work will likely sound more modern.

What was it like seeing such strong support from Axwell & Ingrosso and David Guetta for your immensely successful ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ remix?

Axwell is clearly one of our favorite producers, he’s definitely a role model for us. Every time we birth something we’re proud of, we send it his way, so you can imagine how hyped we were when he asked us for the stems to premiere it at Tomorrowland. It wasn’t even mastered yet, Ax did it himself so he could play it! As for David… you know he is the boss where we come from, of course it is an honor.

If you could remix any song of your choice, what would it be and why?

The thing about remixes is, a lot of people compare them to the original, claiming that one is better or that the artist made a remix because he disliked the source material.

But a remix is simply another take on a song. Sometimes all they have in common is a sample or the vocals, and the composition is completely different. We personally enjoy working around vocals, we love to drag a new voice into our universe. If artists like Swedish House Mafia, Post Malone, or Thirty Seconds to Mars asked us for a remix, it would make us very proud. But of course, there are many more.

Can you tell us a little bit about each of your musical backgrounds?

(Thibault) For myself, I started as a drum player, enjoying every aspect of rock music before discovering electronic music and understood we can put even more energy than with hard rock hitting songs. I started DJing when I was 15 and quickly turned to producing music myself.

(Adrien) I’m more hip-hop influenced, I had a lot of friends who were rappers in my hometown. So I started DJing in clubs and got into music production with them.

What was the impetus behind you both wanting to create music with one another as a DJ/production duo?

First of all, I think it is a bromance story. Regardless of our different backgrounds we realized that we loved the same things in electronic music. The idea of blending all these different influences into a unique project excited us.

How did Mickey Shiloh and Deem come to be featured on ‘Beg For It’, and what was it like working with them?

Mickey is super professional, she is extremely organized and a real pleasure to work with. As we mentioned before, the rap part was really important and we had a strong idea of what we wanted, so we spent a lot of time searching for the right guy. The moment we found Deem though, it was settled. When the man sends you something, you know it’s the one.

Are there any dream features you’d like to have in your music at some point?

If we’re talking vocalists, it’s gotta be Kurt Cobain… you said dream right? As for living creatures, we could also mention Marilyn Manson for example, or Post Malone. Spending time in the studio with a musical genius like Kanye West to see his process, or sitting next to guys like Skrillex, Axwell, etc… That would be gas!

‘Invisible’ and ‘Ritual’ have already collectively garnered over 48k combined streams across YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud since their release not too long ago — what does it feel like to see such impressive streaming numbers leading into your third lead single?

Beyond numbers, it’s really the amazing feedback we got from the listeners that hit us the hardest and motivated us to continue crafting works that pull people into our universe.
