Noel Holler

German DJ/producer Noel Holler is back on the release radar with a new single, ‘Powerless’. A dance music cover of Nelly Furtado’s groundbreaking 2003 masterpiece of the same name, the new reinterpreted version features vocals from fellow German, singer/songwriter, Jona Selle. The new tune marks the talent’s third musical offering of the new decade, with his July-released song, ‘Every Morning’ featuring Leony still performing well. DMCWORLD dives in for a world exclusive…

Over the last several years you’ve played a significant amount of live shows — what do you miss most about performing live, and if you could perform anywhere in the world post-lockdown, where would it be and why?

Ibiza!!!! I love the vibe of this beautiful island and for DJs it is the mecca of music!

What’s it like for you to perform a set at a music festival in comparison to a nightclub?

At a festival, you have more space for creative music stuff. The people are full of emotions! I also do like club shows very much, but the vibe is not the same as at festivals!

You’ve worked closely with Berlin-based DJ VIZE, and your work has recently been remixed by renowned Dutch duo Bougenvilla — what does it feel like to have such staunch support from these industry titans?

A few years ago I would have never believed I would work with such big players in the business! It’s an honor for me to get the chance to do that!

Your forthcoming single ‘Powerless’ is a rework of Nelly Furtado’s hit 2003 single of the same name. What initially drew you toward wanting to reinterpret the track?

When I was a child I loved this song! It was always on the radio on road trips. 2 years ago, I heard the track on a throwback playlist and it was like WOW – I have to make a modern version of it!

Over the last few years, what has the German electronic dance music scene looked like?

As I am just beginning my 20s, I don’t have big insights into the well-known German electronic dance music scene, but what I do know is that it is growing and growing. One of the world’s most known DJs are from Germany (Felix Jaehn, Tujamo, Robin Schulz, etc.), so we’re sure that the quality of electronic dance music is at its highest here 😊

What do you find creatively inspires you in your day-to-day?

Every morning I go for a 30-minute walk in the forest. While walking, I get the most creative ideas. Nature and silence inspire me the most.

How and when did you start DJing and producing your own music?

When I was 14 years old I started DJing and then everything else came in time. I’ve always had a passion for electronic music and I started to enjoy knowing how it is produced. Slowly, I just tried it for myself. I learn more every day and I am excited for what will come up in the future!

You’ve recently signed your first record deal with Universal Music’s Airforce1 Records — what’s it been like working with them since mid-June?

Since the signing with Airforce1 Records, the time has flown by so fast! It brought many new experiences for me and I really love working with the whole team. It doesn’t feel like a “job” when you have fun and passion.

What’s your all-time favorite genre of electronic dance music?

Bass house music & tech-house!

Are there any upcoming projects you’ve been working on that are worth mentioning?

Of course there are! I am just about to start my journey and I won’t stop so easily. Stay tuned – I will tell you very soon!
