DMC World Magazine

Back to Mine With Marco Tegui

Peruvian musician Marco Tegui began his musical journey in 2009, firstly making an impact in South America before graduating to the world stage. He is now based in Ibiza and was previously A&R at Berlin’s iconic Bar25 label, as well as managing its sister imprint Sirin Music, before starting his own DowntempoLove label. He has a magical live set that combines the same rich harmonies, hypnotic sounds and melodic synths as his productions on labels like Get Physical, Stil For Talent and many more. As his wonderful new album ‘Kindsich Stories’ drops on Kindisch, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Marco Tegui.

Santana – Abraxas

Thanks to my father’s good taste in music I heard this when I was a little kid and it changed my life.

Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of The Moon

This had the same effect on me as Abraxas. I even have a tattoo of the cover on my right foot.

Cat Stevens – Tea for the Tillerman

So many childhood memories.

Various Artists – The Roots of Chicha Vol.1

This compilation album contains all the gems of Cumbia Amazonica from Peru, my country of birth and where I was raised.

Arco Iris – Blues De Dana

Epic Argentinian band, where the musical master Gustavo Santaolalla started out long ago.

Paul Oakenfold – Great Wall CD2

This album encouraged me to start doing electronic music.

Los Espiritus – Gratitud

One of my favourite bands of all time. They have an amazing authentic sound.

Brown Bird – Salt for Salt

Incredible folk band that is underrated.

Messer Chups – Surf Riders from the Swamp Lagoon

Inspirational surf rock music. I always listen to this with my wife when we drive around in our Bulli.

Bye Bye Bar 25 – Bar 25 Music Compilation

This compilation contains one of the best songs released on that label, Capey Cash – ‘There Was A Bar’.

Marco Tegui ‘Kindsich Stories’ is out now on Kindisch.
