Andrea Bertolini

Massive new album from Italy’s favourite progressive house producer

Hey Andrea, congratulations on finishing and releasing the new album. How did this sonderful musical journey begin for you?

“Thanks bro much appreciated! I’ll keep it sweet haha. My father taught me to play the drums around 8 years old so I got into music young, released my first track at 18 and now I’m here creating albums for you guys, touring all over the world and loving it!”

Onto the new album, “Ready For Another Night” – what kind of sound can people expect?

“People who follow me will probably know my sound is evolving. This album represents my vision for progressive, techy, house. As always it includes some solid grooves and loads of big melodies. My signature style is definitely still in there but I guess it has been just been freshened up!”

What tracks on the album would you say that you’re most satisfied with, and how were the reactions in the clubs so far?

“I’m happy with them all, each track has been written with the same amount of effort, attention and energy as the other and all contribute in their own little way to the album. I dropped a couple tracks over in Brazil recently and the room erupted so I most of done something right, right?”

You decided to release it on Iboga Records from Denmark. What made you decide to go for this label?

“I don’t tend to work with loads of different labels nowadays and invest a lot of time getting the music I produce right, so it’s equally as important to release the work on a likeminded and well established label like Iboga! I respect the label and enjoy the tracks that come out of it so it felt like the right place to release ‘Ready For Another Night’.”

Looking at the state of the scene, who do you think are the most interesting acts today, and who are your personal inspirations?

“Man…that’s a difficult one to answer because there are so many great artists, new and old, who inspire me from all sorts of different genres and fashions. I always follow my instincts when writing new music though, catching elements from the past and present.”

Looking back, who has inspired you over the years? What artists made you discover electronic music in the first place?

“I was completely hooked and sold on the original D-nox & Beckers stuff….great artists.”

Five years down the line, how do you think the progressive sound will look? And will you still be around?

“Of course I’ll still be around are you crazy haha!! There will always be talented artists out there offering new interpretations and styles within different genres right? Progressive being one of them.  It will evolve and I would like to think that my productions will contribute for the foreseeable future. In fact, I just upgraded my studio with loads of new kit for exactly that reason!”

If someone looks at your tour-schedule it’s obvious that you must be on the road a lot. Do you ever get tired of travelling and the endless flights and airports?

“Travelling, discovering new cultures and people is the most amazing part of my work. How I could I ever tire of that man?!”

When you’re back in Italy how do you spend your time?

“I spend time with my family. Spending time with my wife and closer friends gives me time to recharge my batteries and be happy!”

Looking back at your career so far, what would you say have been the highlights?

“Wow there have been loads…all the countries I visited, the gigs, people I’ve met along the way, the people who enjoy listening to and supporting my music..all these things are highlights for me!”

‘Ready For Another Night’ is out on December 11th
