Lifelong friends Alyssa & Gia are all about sisterhood with a tight bond that adds a unique sense of love, connection and energy to their sets and sounds. They have been creating waves in their home of Berlin and have an endless passion for digging deep and sharing their music, making them new school favourites and Watergate club regulars. Now, the pair step out of the Watergate booth to join the revered German club’s label for their latest single ‘Track Your Steps’. DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Alyssa & Gia.
Gia:
Quendresa – Don‘t Stop
Quendresa’s ‘Don’t Stop’, sample of One Way’s ‘Don’t Stop (Ever Loving Me)’ we like to describe as cool and sexy vibe at it’s best. This short but catchy and unfortunately very underrated track, boosts our self confidence and beams us into a smokey lounge straight out of the cover photo.
L’Equipe Du Son – Lesson 1
For our gigs we are constantly on the road. ‘Lesson 1’ is the perfect song to relax on a plane and to fly into dream worlds. Also, for me, the ultimate track when newly in love.
DJ Shadow – Midnight In A Perfect World
Released in 1996 as the lead single of his groundbreaking debut album ‘Endtroducing’ DJ Shadow’s ‘Midnight In A Perfect World’ is one of a kind. This downtempo instrumental hip-hop gem creates an outstanding atmosphere we absolutely love.
Willie Colon – Oh Qué Será?
This Latin American song by Willie Colón is a beloved salsa classic that resonates deeply with many Latin Americans. Its nostalgic lyrics and timeless melody evoke memories of love, loss, and the enduring spirit of resilience, making it a song that many have cherished from childhood onward. (Alejandro Molinari) a producer from Venezuela we’re working with, showed us this song last year during our jam and recording sessions in ibiza, and we instantly fell in love with spirit and energetic vibe.
Alan Braxe – In Love With You
Alyssa and I listened to this song together for the first time when we were 14/15 years old, it became one of our teenage anthems and favorite tracks ever since. We have been inspired by French house music a lot in general.
Alyssa:
Evans Pyramid – Never Gonna Leave You
One of my top dopamine boost tracks just like ‘Where Love Lives‘ by Evans Pyramid. It was recorded in the late 70s and I love the complex and multiple melodic guitar parts. Fun Fact: It wasn’t until years later in the 2000s that some Disco collectors discovered the Evans Pyramid 12’’ record.
Blood Orange – Champagne Coast
Gia and I danced to this day and night, especially at afterparties in our Berlin homes. What a tune: sublime indie vibes and effortless cool synths. This one will always feel like “that moment” and I’ll never get tired of it, haha.
Stella – Sentimentale
French for emphasis, toujours. I recently got sent this absolute, nonchalant gem and this is one for the lovers. Stella’s beautiful voice and the funky bass put me right in romantic trance and I listen this song on repeat.
Paul Epworth – Voyager (Edit)
This tune feels like a 70s space travel odyssey. I’m an absolute sci-fi lover and Paul Epworth just finessed the sublime cosmic pop and house elements in this edit. Beware of the lush synth lines!
Armand Van Helden – Flowerz
A tune that gets everyone in the right mood instantly when we play it in our sets. I’ll never forget the moment we played it at our Club 22 open air in Berlin – the energy was so high it felt like flying. A true timeless classic!
Alyssa & Gia ‘Track Your Steps’ is out August 30th on Watergate.
