Quart – Life Is Beautiful
A beautiful cinematic piece of music from Vince Watson in his Quart guise. I’ve been a big fan of Vince’s music since the late 90’s and love the Quart album he put out a few years ago. A masterclass in reduction – less really is more.

Unkle – Only You (&Me remix)
DEEP DEEP DEEP. I’ve really enjoyed &Me’s recent remix work, first Royksopp and now this remix of Unkle. It’s moody which is right up my street and the emotion has a Massive Attack vibe to it.

Honey Dijon  – Burn (Original Mix)
Comment. Perhaps the standout track from Honey’s ‘best of both world’s’ album. It was the 80’s / 90’s NY sound attracted me to this album and in particular this track. Love it.

Gabriels – Angels and Queens
Comment. I think Gabriels are one of the best bands of recent times. I love their debut album – it’s a go to on a Sunday morning in the Sant house. I love how the mood of this track effortlessly changes halfway through.

Backbeat Convention – Love and Happiness (Quartz Ddub All Over Mix)
Comment. I can’t believe this track was released in 1990! Almost 35 years old! And still sounds fresh and relevant today. Nice and dubby, deep, dreamy strings, great vocal. It’s got everything.

Massive Attack – Weather Storm

Comment. I could listen to the bass and percussion loop of this forvever. Great head nodder! And then that piano – goosebump inducing!

Underworld – Banstyle / Sappy’s Curry.
Comment. Slightly upping the tempo but still chill. Another loop I could listen to forever. Then the breakdown when the guitar comes in and the bass and claps go all dubby. WOW! I think this is up there with Underworld’s best.

Children of Zeus – Vibrations
Comment. Vibrations indeed! My list wouldn’t be complete without an artist from Manchester. Really like what Children of Zeus are up to. Great keys on this one – Quincy Jones (RIP) would have been proud of them I reckon!

North End – Kind of Life (MAW mix)
Comment. An Arthur Baker classic complete with Harmonica. Is this the only Disco record ever that features a 2 minutes Harmonica solo? Answers on a postcard… I was introduced to this on the West End Records 25th Anniversary box set. And still love all 11min 42 seconds of it today.

The Voices of East Harlem – Cashing In
Comment. Thanks to Ashley Beedle for introducing me to the Voices of East Harlem on his X-Press 2 ‘Choices’ CD. Ash was and still is a big influence on me. If Ash say’s it’s good, it’s good!

Andrew Sant ft Pauline Taylor ‘Into The Wild’ will be released on November 29th 2024 on F*CLR Records.
