No Doubt – Spiderwebs

The first ever album that I was able to buy with my own money when I was younger. Tragic Kingdom turned my world upside down and was really my first trip into the world of music. My parents hated it which made me love it even more.

BT – Satellite

It was hard to pick anything from BT that had such an influence on my music with respect to vocals. It was electronic music that fell along a more rock type vibe with the instrument selection and drum lines. This track is one of the hidden gems in the world.

Sneaker Pimps – Spin Spin Sugar

One of my favorite bands (with Kello Ali in 1996) this track was one of the sickest tracks on the album. Such a dirty raw vibe with her killer voice. At times – this track has elements of Aphex Twin (Come to Daddy Vibes).

Deftones – Change (In The House of Flies) [Acoustic]

The Deftones came out of nowhere with this acoustic mix of Change which saw regular rotation in my car when on trips. The song is so powerful and raw in the acoustic version. You can really feel the emotion in Chino’s voice in this and as a vocalist it really hit home.

Hooverphonic – 2 Wicky

Oh my – this is the song that made me fall in love with lounge vocals. I had the pleasure of seeing this band in Denver in the late 90s. So hypnotic – another song that drove me to the vocals I like to use in my music.

Paul Oakenfold – Tranceport

Is this even allowed? I don’t even remember track names. This was the first time I had even heard “techo” back in 1998. I listened to this over and over again and again. On the way to work – on the way home. Still an epic album so many years later!

Tears for Fears – Head Over Heels

This track was THE track for one of my favorite movies, Donnie Darko. My parents had this album and used to play it when I was younger. What a band. The simplicity of the bassline, the chords, and the vocals are timeless and still in regular rotation in my playlists in 2024.

The Prodigy – Breathe

Remember when this track was ALL over MTV? We used to record MTV with our VCRs in hopes of catching this video so we could listen later. It was metal meets techno, and it was glorious.

2Scratch & Lox Chatterbox – Superlife

That bass though! Banging bass line – the deep voice which is so popular in Deep House – this track is just an absolute banger. Clean, simple mix – and did I mention that bass?

Central Cee & Lil Baby – Band4Band

This makes me want to stop producing House and go straight to UK Drill. A two-minute masterpiece that feels like you want it to go on and on. The pads, the 808, the hats – just really compliment the vocals which are absolute fire.

beat.pacific ‘See The Sun’ will be released on Play Records’ Summer Sessions 2024 Volume 2.
