Bobbi Fallon’s essence shines brightly in the musical world she has created where emotions flow like a river, and connections are forged like precious jewels. She began her journey at 11-years-old after falling in love with the saxophone, she continued to teach herself piano and soon after drew great inspiration from 1950s jazz legends. A scholarship to Berklee College of Music in 2017 elevated her artistry and craft, leading her to be featured on Kasango’s hits like “One Night” and “Reasons,” which boast over 4.1 million Spotify streams. As her new collaboration with Isam Hadjih, ‘I’m Not Coming Home’, lands on Aligned Moons, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Bobbi Fallon.
Olivia Dean – Time
What a way to start a kick-back after-party hang. Olivia Dean has been a favourite of mine since early 2021. Her soulful, ethereal voice coupled with the most groovy rhythms really sets the mood. I absolutely love the contrast in this song between the soft-acoustic-soulfu-llaid back vibe into the absolute opposite: full-electric-high-energy-rock chorus and back again. This song is a masterpiece. Not to mention the horn section!?
Smith – Sunshine Pt. 1
The glory in this song is bound to get the vibrations up. We’re talking gospel choir, organs, congos with the perfect touch of modern production. James’ voice will melt your heart instantly. The harmonies in this song are DELICIOUS. It feels like exactly what it says it is: “Sunshine”.
Yebba – Boomerang
Talk about soul. Yebba is for sure the queen. Captivating lyrics from the get go. Yebba takes us on a journey through this enticing story and her captivating vocal talent. She uses her breath as a percussion element. Everything in this song will have your toe tapping and your heart pounding. This is a piece of sonic art. Just like everything Yebba touches.
Beyoncé – BODYGUARD
I truly believe that this is one of the sexiest songs of recent times. When I first heard this song, it was the only song I had on repeat for about a month. No exaggeration. I don’t know what this song is laced with but all I can say, when you hear this song, get up and dance. This is a banger. No doubt.
Raye – Worth It
How could I not have the queen on this playlist? Now that Beyoncé got us up and dancing – Raye is going to keep us going. The songwriting, the arrangement, the harmonies, the production, the instrumentation, everything in this song is immaculate. Another song to just get the vibes up and smiles on faces.
Remi Wolf – Pink + White – (Remix/Rendition of Frank Ocean’s track)
Remi Wolf is the coolest. This live rendition of Frank Ocean’s song really just hits the spot. The groovy bass line coupled with the trumpet, electric guitar and her shiningly bright vocal tone make this a must-listen. There’s so much cool kid energy in this song. Rumour has it you become cool just from listening to it.
Frank Ocean – Sweet Life
GOATED Frank Ocean himself. I would even just play this whole album as a playlist itself. There isn’t much more to say except that Frank is a genius and this song is one of those “scream-at-the-top-of-your-lungs-out-the-car-window-driving-down-the-highway” songs.
Electric Guest – This Head I Hold
Now we’re getting cheeky. The culmination of real instruments and electronic production elements in this song make it so groovy and soulful. The catchy melody and upbeat rhythms make life feel gooooood.
Dusty Springfield – Spooky
I recently stumbled across this classic and have gone down a Dusty Springfield rabbit hole. I feel like I have struck gold. We always have to have a soulful little throwback.
Gabriel Row – Broad Daylight
Someone shared this with me and now I must share it with the world! This tune is so authentic and different. There is such a raw feeling to it. The swung rhythm is so up my alley, the story telling is just so fun and the production is such a beautiful representation of that!
