Since his early records on R&S and ZZK, Hermetics (aka Santiago Niño) has explored electronic music as a form of ritual and renewal. His work across labels like Multi Culti and Optimo Music leans into rhythm as a tool for transformation. Here, he uses it sparingly. The remix doesn’t overwrite OORA’s minimalist structure. Instead, it picks out new weight in the silences and repetition, teasing out latent tension. On his new remix of Oora’s ‘And Then, It Faded’, out now on Otherness Records, Hermetics takes a moment of quiet introspection and turns it inside out. For his Back To Mine the Bogotá-born producer has picked out some afterparty cuts that have also swerved as inspirations throughout his career.

Ulrich was a major influence on me. I believe he helped shape my sensitivity toward more cinematic and melodic atmospheres. You can feel his imprint in the ambient and dreamy textures of my music.

One of my all-time favorites. This track marked the beginning of my fascination with fusing ethnic and world music with more industrial, electronic sounds—something I still explore today.

The Zion dance scene from The Matrix had a huge impact on me. The rawness, sensuality, and spiritual energy it conveys still inspires me to create. It’s one of the moments that pushed me to keep producing.

Another unforgettable moment tied to film. This track plays at the end of Groove, and the emotion it left me with still lingers. It’s the perfect sonic echo of a magical night—what you feel after a perfect party.
