Back to Mine With Kawtar Sadik

Agadir-born Kawtar Sadik raps and sings and draws on her youth growing up in Casablanca for inspiration. The singer-songwriter has a rich vocal palette and has collaborated on releases with the likes of Da Mike, Filippos and Mr. ID, amongst others, while playing live across Africa. As her new ‘Ribabohali EP’ drops on connected, ripe with authentic Afro sounds, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Kawtar Sadik.

Fatoumata Diawara – Bissa

This track has a special effect on me, I feel every note.

Kutiman – Mix Tel Aviv

I love the diversity in this music, it’s a beautiful journey.

Bu Kolthoum – Jouwana

The voice of this rapper is one of my favourites.

R. Rahman, “Jiya Jale” (Dil Se): Berklee Indian Ensemble (Cover)

I like this version of A. R. Rahman, I can just listen to it all day long.

Gorillaz – Feel Good

Whenever things don’t feel great, I listen to this song.

Talking Heads – Once In A Lifetime

There is a beautiful secret story behind this track… It’s my favourite track of all time.

Tinariwen – “Sastanàqqàm”

I love this track because I need a part of the Sahara in my home playlist.

Maalem Hmida Boussou— Boulilaa

This is a track that’s at the heart of my love for the Gnawa music.

James Blake Feat. Chance The Rapper “Life Round Here”

The voice of James Blake on this track is out of this world.

Djelem Djelem – Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra

The original version is an old Romanian song, but I love this version because it’s modern and it’s a deep piece about the First World War.
