Back To Mine With Mirror People

Lisbon-based Rui Maia assumes his Mirror People alter ego for a fresh new EP on his own Belong Records that features a collaboration with vocalist Michelle Bee. Maia’s music has come on quality labels like Permanent Vacation, Discotexas and Toy Tonics and he has remixed the likes of Hard Ton and Jesse Oliver to great effect. As his brilliant ‘Unknown Movement’ EP drops, including a 22 minute long piece of conceptual ambient track, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Mirror People.

Metro Area – Miura

Very influential and timeless production by Morgan Geist & Darshan Jesrani. I believe I first heard this track back in 2002, during the electroclash days. A totally different flavour and one of the reasons I started doing more dance floor oriented tunes.

Ross from Friends – The Daisy

I really dig Felix Weatherall’s productions. The whole album ‘Tread’ is amazing, especially this tune ‘The Daisy’.

Manuel Gottsching – E2-E4

A true masterpiece, far ahead of it’s time & recorded in one take. Impressive. One of those desert island discs!

Sofia Kourtesis – La Perla

It feels to me that this is a modern classic. I got instantly hooked to ‘La Perla’ the first time I heard it.

Erol Alkan – A Hold on for Love

Brilliant tune & video. ‘A Hold on for Love’ is my favorite track by Erol Alkan. A class act! I really dig the lo-fi & the monotony of this track. It never gets boring.

Saada Bonaire – You Could Be More As You Are

The ozze attitude and style. A mix of disco, funk, world & new wave. One of my favourite records led by this single. You could be anything, you could be free.

Ponzu Island – Super Koto

Very YMO sounding. It really doesn’t matter. I really love this ‘Ponzu Beach’ EP. Amazingly produced and mixed.

House Of Spirits – Holding On

When I first heard this tune, i thought it was a recreation of some 70’s classic. I figured it out, it’s not. Written by Tom Noble and released by Beats in Space in 2014. This is New York to me!

Tones On Tail – When You’re Smiling

I grew up listening to tunes like this. New wave & dark music was always on heavy rotation in my brother’s bedroom. Tones on Tail, nowadays is like fine wine. Their music sounds timeless and is very, very unique. They’re still very influential for me.

Soichi Terada – Bamboo Fighter

Super Producer & DJ Soichi Terada. I’ve been playing this tune on almost every DJ Set. It’s so good!
