London’s DJ and producer Ozzie Guven continues to rise as one of the UK’s most in-demand names in underground house music. Cutting his teeth DJing across London’s club circuit and hosting his own show on Select FM, Ozzie built a loyal following that grew rapidly after lockdown in 2021. His breakthrough came with the ‘Dubaholics EP’ on Seb Zito’s Seven Dials Records, a release that hit #1 on Beatport’s Minimal/Deep Tech chart. His releases include ‘My Jam EP’ on Sidney Charles’ Heavy House Society and ‘Bassline Pumping EP’ on Archie Hamilton’s Microhertz, and a standout single for Max Dean’s neXup Recz, cementing his reputation as one of the most consistent names in UK house. Ozzie Guven continues to push forward with new releases, global tour plans, and a string of collaborations in the works. DMCWorld goes Back to Mine With Ozzie Guven.
E-Z Rollers – Walk This Land
This one really gets me grooving! I remember first hearing it on the UK gangster film ‘Lock Stock’ and being hooked.
Kano – Nobody don’t dance no more
The vocals have relevance in today’s rave scene. Oh and don’t get me started on the switch up, from groovy to grimey – something that I try incorporate into my own productions.
SBTRKT, Sampha – Living Like I Do
One of the first ‘Live’ Dj sets I see was SBTRKT – pure genius and not afraid to cross boundaries with the sounds. That with a soulful vocal from Sampha really hits the spot for me.
Art Department, Osunlade, Soul Clap – We call love
Deep, soulful and sexy. Perfect track to warm things up.
Waifs & Strays Body Shiver (Hot Natured Mix)
Was hard to choose just 1 hot natured track but this one for me tops it. Will always be in my playlist for as long as I’m playing out
The Streets – Let’s Push Things Forward
A track with all the right influences but sounding very different to what’s already out there. The blend of laid-back beats, everyday British vernacular and that hooky refrain makes it feel less like a typical “single” and more like a statement of intent — clever, relatable and surprisingly uplifting in its insistence that we actually move things forward.
Logic – Blues For You (Hard Dub)
A classic on the famous ‘strictly rhythm’ label. A timeless track with house & garage influence. A good listen and an even better club track.
MJ Cole – Flava Fever
Was almost impossible not to pick an old school MJ Cole track. He has so many sick tracks but this one is one people sleep on.
Fantaboys – Pump It All
The groove and the vocals just make me want to dance, something I love to drop in my sets.
Fast Eddie – Most Wanted
This one here really gets me going – the cross between house and hip hop in the late 80s/early 90s truly inspired me – especially for those releases I had in 2023.
