Interview with Danilo Schneider

Hi Danilo, how are you?
Hi. I am fine. Thank you for the inquiry as well as the request for the interview.

We are digging the new Enough! Music release! Tell us about your label and how you started it?
The founding of Enough! Music was in 2010. At that time we were two founders, but unfortunately, this cooperation did not last. So I decided to continue on my own. However I quickly realised that this is very exhausting, because I also perform a full-time job. Currently Enough! Music directed by me and my life partner Eveline Fink. The collaboration is great. We complement each other very well, not always, but that’s what makes it interesting. We listen to demos, decide on releases together, plan label evenings and much more. Currently we are busy in founding and planning Enough! Music LTD. A lot is already planned for 2018. Be curious.

How would you describe your sound?
Ui! That is a difficult question. I try not to classify my sound, to keep it exciting and open. Nowadays you often get pigeonholed in music. Each of my tracks is unique, which is also my intention.
My goal is to reflect again and again my passion in each of my tracks and to pull the listener for a moment into my world.

How has being from Berlin shaped your sound and career?
The international, varied and musical variety that Berlin has to offer is continuously shaping my musical journey. Here develops a creative inspiration and freedom, which leads me repeatedly to new ways. The encounters and the lively exchange with other artists are rich in input and enriching for fresh productions. Berlin is the fulcrum for many artists, promoters, club owners or party people who stumble over your feet in the nightlife. This city never sleeps. It creates personal encounters and the exchange of it also allows to be heard beyond the country’s borders.

What inspires your sound?
There are many diverse influences. It can be club visits, productions by other artists, DJ sets as well as ordinary everyday snapshots that inspire me and which influence the musical ideas in my head.

Were you always musical growing up? What made you start making electronic music?
I grew up without any musical background in my childhood. However, music always played an important role and in 2003 I started to engage in music production. That set the foundation for the coming. I taught myself how to produce. In the beginning, I kept looking over the shoulder of my brother Guido Schneider, who was already a successful producer in the 90s.
2008 was the year of my first release on Dana Ruh’s label “Brouqade”. This was followed by further releases and the first steps as a DJ and the spark for playing live jumped over. My life partner Eveline Fink helped me by providing me her Technics 1210s. She showed me how to mix properly. During this time I practiced and practiced ….! She is a gifted and great DJane.
At this point a big Thank you to her.

What is your favourite club to play in Berlin?
At the moment “Hoppetosse” and in summer the “Club der Visionäre” are my favorite clubs.

What is your favourite place to travel and play music outside of Germany?
The world is colorful and just as diverse are the journeys around the world.
I especially remember the trips to London as well as Moscow and St. Petersburg in my heart. The warmth of the organizers and the desire for a musical enjoyment were overwhelming and just great.

And what is your favourite place to relax when you want to get away from working and playing?
It’s always nice to get back to my little family after a gig. There is nothing like my cozy home with my beloved girlfriend and my two cats.

What is your studio set up like to make such music?
Currently I produce with the music program Ableton. This is complemented by the “Bullfrogs” speakers from Martion Audio Systems. In addition, in my studio setup I use the “Crème – Bus compressor and mastering equalizer” as well as the “Classic Equalizer EQP-1 – passive tube equalizer” from Audio Tegeler Manufaktur and other high quality plugins that I use in Ableton. A couple of great “Native Instruments” tools and other carefully selected soft- and hardware complete my set.

Who’s your favourite artists at the moment? Who in your opinion is killing it production wise?
There are many good and outstanding artists, especially from the Romanian artist area. But Ilario Liburni is continuously convincing me in the production area. Not only his creations on his own labels Cardinal and Invade are always surprising and fresh but also his split EP on Enough! Music. They always put a smile on my face.

What are your hopes and goals for the future? What does the future hold for Danilo Schneider?
I hope that my passion for music will never terminate and my creativity will continue to develop. In the way of releases as well as unforgettable DJ sets. In 2018 there will be some remixes and releases by me as well as the extension of the catalog numbers to Enough! Music and Enough! Music LTD. I’m looking forward to. It remains exciting.

Take A Breath EP is out 1/12/2017 on vinyl only!
