Another massive No. 1 in the world famous Buzz Chart with ‘Into The Light’

Steve, Victor welcome to DMCWORLD. A massive few months for you with ‘Redux’ all over the Buzz Chart and dance floors everywhere and also the new track ‘Into The Light’. Talk us through the history of Redux first…

“It started with the melody of the track, like most of the time with our productions. We played two melodies that were based on the same chord combinations. We worked on it a bit, but it stayed on our hard drive for a couple of weeks. We knew we had something good. After a week or two, an extra top line made the difference and the track evolved to what it is now.”

Did you know instantly you had created something very special with the track?

“We knew we had a great track but all it needed was a couple of drinks and a jam session on the keyboards, then we were good to go!

We have to give thanks to your parents for your path into music, they were quite insistent you learned a musical instrument from an early age. How did you feel about that back then?

“Yeah, we are really happy now that our parents included ‘playing an instrument’ in the way they raised us. Back then we really were not too enthusiastic about it, but we both wanted to play the piano. We got a Russian teacher- she was really dedicated and full of passion in teaching us piano, but she was a firm teacher.”

How many instruments can you guys play now?

“Both of us only play the piano. Do maracas count?”

Your new collaboration with Sander Van Doorn ‘Into The Light’ has just smashed the No. 1 spot in the Buzz Chart. How did that track come about?

“The vocal we got is really dreamy and mysterious. We searched for a melody that gave an answer to that mysteriousness. We tested out some melodies with Sander and sent some stuff back and forth. Finally, we chose the one we’ve got now and we are both very happy with the result. And it was great to get the No. 1 last week!”

You enjoyed a great Miami with parties at LIV with Sander and then with Spinnin’ Records at Nikki Beach. Why is Miami so good?

Miami is the place during WMC/Ultra – everybody goes there. It feels like a Christmas party with all your colleague’s from work, only now you are in a tropical environment, better music and lots of party people too! We love it. There were some great shows – Axwell at Wall, Steve Angello, Dirty South at LIV and Ingrosso, Tommy Trash and Otto Knows at Story, and the last show of the Swedish House Mafia at UMF.”

Massive big up from the man Axwell last year saying you were the breakthrough artists of 2012 – he has been a huge inspiration for you…

“Axwell has been an inspiration to us for so many years. His productions are from another level. Besides the fact that he created some unique melodies, he also has an eye for detail. The way he introduced certain sounds and types of vocals in the house-scene at the time (and still) is just class. So when we were asked to do a remix on Axtone we were light headed. Finding out that we were the 2012 breakthrough for him was just beyond words.”

What do you think are each other’s finest studio qualities – who brings what to the table?

“Actually we are pretty equally balanced. We are both melody-guys: we like to just play the piano, sort different instruments and just create a concept- a feeling. That is the part where we get excited when we’ve got something.
Then starts the build-up: each layer, each sound we add gets us more and more exciting. In the reality Victor works a little more on the technical process and Steve more on the concept-faze.”

What is the current top 10 you are spinning?

“We like to give originals a ‘DubVision-twist’ by adding vocals or other melodies on a certain tracks. Here are the 10 originals we use as basis:

1. Swedish House Mafia- Don’t You Worry Child

2. Hard Rock Sofa – Rasputin

3. Boys Noize –  Ich R U (Jacque Le Cont Remix)

4. Kryder – Vyper

5. Discopolis – Committed To Sparkle Motion (DubVision Remix)

6. Dirty South, Deniz Koyu – Halo

7. Dannic – Clobber

9. Jeremy Orlander – Let Me Feel
