Axel Willner is on a roll right now, and this latest album as The Field could well be one of his very best. The lush textures, solid beats and warm hints of vocal lead to a dream-like state of euphoria in many of the tracks, which unfold as naturally as you could wish. A lot of sounds are densely packed in together here, which calls up the possible influence of shoegaze, but it’s never overdone and is beautifully orchestrated. ‘Burned Out’ and ‘Arpeggiated Love’ are highlights, while the title track is more driven – but really the album is best experienced as a whole, working its magic to take the listener to a higher plane.
