Twin Sister's first album for Domino shows off their versatility, to the point where you sometimes wonder if you're actually listening to the same band as the album progresses! That shows just how good they are at writing pop music that draws on different strands, which might be shoegaze one minute or steel guitar the next. At times there are reminders of bands like Broadcast, thanks to singer Andrea Estella, who has a surprisingly big range both in terms of pitch and emotion. Some choice moments are 'Kimmi In A Rice Field', which has some pretty epic production, 'Eastern Green', with its widescreen chorus, and 'Space Babe', an appealing pop number. All these different styles hang together rather well, and show off Twin Sister as a band with a beguiling sense of musical adventure.
