A diynamic summer all around the world for the superstars from Zurich

Adrian and Adrian—welcome back to DMCWORLD…where on Planet Earth are you today?
“Not on Earth, still outta Space…”
You have had another busy summer in Ibiza this year…we checked you out at Destino and also Cova Santa last week. What are your thoughts on Cova…it’s the venue on everybody’s lips this year?
“It is, in good and bad ways. The venue is great and we had a lot of fun there already. Unfortunately it’s not that easy to do all the events there so some changes were necessary. It also interesting though to have these venue changes and makes everything a little old school. Moving venues, announcements on short notice etc.”
Last month some superstar DJs including Paul Oakenfold, Afrojack and Steve Angello announced on Radio that “Ibiza is too expensive”,and that the “mystique of Ibiza isn’t there anymore”. Do you agree?
“We saw some posts about that…but that’s not something new so it doesn’t need these guys to confirm that. Its definitely getting more expensive every year….but there are still free parties happening, afterhours etc.”
Throw some reasons at us why you love the island…have you discovered anywhere new this year?
“I (Adrian dark) am more on the island this year. Means finally time to discover the island and its beautiful places. I found beaches I never knew before, amazing restaurants and places just to hang out or work.”
How has the studio you set up with Solomun been going, have you had a productive summer?
“To be very honest…not really. Adrian blond is flying back to Zurich a couple of times to finish ideas we have been working on. We are still not really good at working “on the road”. We have a very busy schedule too at the moment so its not that easy to make music anyway.”
Man oh man…we were watching The European Athletics Championships from Zurich last week…what has happened to your home city’s summer dudes? That was some wet and windy shit!!!!
“Man to be honest don’t know cause we are Ibiza. But yeah saw some of it!”
It’s that time of year again, the annual DJ Top100. I interviewed Arthur Bakerthis week, he remarked…“there are too many DJs and genres for a realistic competition, it needs to split”. What are your thoughts on that…do you actually give a shit anymore?
“To be honest again, most of these polls we really don’t give a shit about…but we are pleased about appreciation of our work.”
Festival moment of 2014?
“Diynamic Festival in Amsterdam, 6000 People going nuts on every track and artist. Goosebumps all over the place. And we have to mention Rummelsburg too as we played very freely and different. Berlin always makes us play good sets.”
What is the last great studio toy you bought yourself?
“The Apollo Quad. Adrian blond just re-arranged our studio….looks nice!”
What is the record that…
…reminds you of your childhood?
“Metallica – ‘The Unforgiven’.”
…reminds you of being broken hearted?
“Nine Inch Nails – ‘Dead Souls’.”
…you wish you would have made?
“Rhythim is Rhythim – ‘Strings of Life’.”
A recent quote from a certain superstar DJ…“I believe true DJing is actually an art, but it’s a dying art, as everyone is pushing the sync button…it’s a real shame when you see a ‘DJ’ plug his laptop in and call this DJing. Music will always evolve but sometimes not in the best way.” What are your thoughts on that?
“We know what the Sync Button is, but never have used it so far. I hope we still give the same answer in a few years. The bottom line is that whatever you work with, you should be interested in the “art of DJing”, even if you start with all these fancy blinking glittery toys….there is a difference between DJing and playing music…”
The last up n’coming DJ/producer you have seen that we should be looking out for…
“These are not up n’coming but…Baikal, David August and Ray Kajoka are among our favorites at the moment.”
And finally, what is coming out next from you studio wise, rumours abound about a new Diynamic EP ans some more remixes…?
“Yeah there will be a new Diynamic EP coming out first week of October as well as our Remix for Flowers & Sea Creatures on My Favorite Robots that we have been playing for a few months…we have two more Remix projects this year for Butch and Ane Brun too…”
