Back To Mine with Boddhi Satva

Seeing it through til dawn at the world’s coolest after parties

01. Alton Miller – Shine on Me
This is one of my first introduction to Alton’s music and voice. A true bliss for the soul.

02. Osunlade feat. WunMi – Rader Du
When I first heard this tune, it felt like my soul got taken to a totally different level of reality. This was my first introduction to Osunlade who later became a true mentor and a friend.

03. Kai Alce – Sa K’ Pas
TrackMode was one of those labels to bring you that proper Underground sound and this Kai Alce piece is no exception to the excellence. Always get the chills when i play this joint.

04. Kenlou – The Bounce
Alton Miller first introduced me to this gem. My God, the first time I heard it, I literally went nuts and still do.

05. Mustafa feat. Natalia – Circles
Talk about madness, this is just one of those that will forever be in my heart. Tony Humphries gave the opportunity to even remix it and trust me remixing a cut that’s already a hit is a challenge but regardless of that nothing gets close to the original.

06. Kerri Chandler – Hallelujah

Another one of those that I just can’t get enough of. Kerri has and is still one of my favourite producers.

07. Peven Everett – Stuck

Powerful and classic joint here. Never get enough of Peven’s music but this one definitely always it the right spot.

08. Victor Simonelli – I Want You To Know
Heard Louie Vega play this few years back at his FLASHBACK Party in Miami and since then I’ve educated myself by looking to the amazing volume of work from the legendary Victor Simonelli.

09. Fela Kuti – He Miss Road
First time I got introduced to Fela’s music was through this song. It was a pivotal song and very decisive moment that made want to fully embrace the path of music and make it my everyday duty.

10. Madilu – Si Je Savais Ca
One of favourite artist and also one of my father’s favourite. Madilu was one of Africa’s most precious artist and voice. Known for his profound lyrics and melodies.

11. Oumou Sangaré – Donso
This woman is by far one of the most impressive and charismatic I have been graced to meet in person. She is also one of Africa most respected and influential artist pushing hard for the rights of women and children in the African Continent. This song is an ode to the Donso culture and one of those that put me into a particular state of inner piece.

Boddhi Satva – Transition (Offering Recordings)
Boddhi Satva is the founding father of what he defines as Ancestral Soul – a synthesis of soul music, electronics and various African styles. Coupled with the unmistakable pace of house music, and Boddhi is changing how the genre can be experienced in the process.
Boddhi’s first break of note was the release of ‘The Boddhi Satva EP’in 2006 for kindred spirit Osunlade’s Yoruba Records.  After then being handpicked by Louie Vega in 2008 for in-house production duties within the Vega stable, Boddhi went on to release his much-admired Ancestral Soul Interpretations series. These mixtapes saw the Central African Republic-born DJ/producer reworking a selection of commercially and critically acclaimed R&B and hip-hop songs, adding what he calls his “sound signature” to create fresh treatments for the likes of Drake and Beyoncé.
Boddhi’s dicography now reads like a house music dream list  which includes releases for Vega Records, BBE, Tony Humphries’ Tony Records, Defected, Cadenza Yellow Productions and Innervisions. He has produced/remixed Bob Sinclar, Elements of Life, Geoffrey Oryema, Oumou Sangaré, Alsarah and The Nubatones, plus a certain Carl Craig remixed Boddhi’s ‘Who Am I’ feat. Athenai & C.Robert Walker.
Boddhi has DJd at clubs across the world, including London’s Ministry of Sound, Club Stereo in Montreal, Djoon Club in Parisand Cielo in New York.  He also recently recorded a mix for BBC 1Xtra’s Destination Africa show.
The new album Transition, his second, features a diverse array of collaborators from across the globe, including Grammy-nominated Parisian sibling duo Les Nubians and Teedra Moses, who has written tracks for the likes of Mary J Blige and Macy Gray. Boddhi is also joined on the album by Stones Throw Records rappers Dudley Perkins AKA Declaime and Georgia Anne Muldrow, Malian singer songwriter Mohamed Diaby, and British neo-soul pioneer Omar.
