Back to Mine with David ‘Davidian’ Whitfield

After hours grooving at the coolest after hour parties in town…

1. Leon Vynehall – Butterflies
The dark, rolling piano in this is spot on. Could listen on repeat for hours!

2. FCL – Let’s Go
One of the first house tracks I ever listened to on a night out, in a tiny, sweaty basement club in Leicester at about 4am, one of the ultimate after-hours tracks in my opinion

3. Detroit Swindle – 64 Ways (Detroit Swindle’s 65th Way Dub)
The original mix of 64 Ways is a perfect set opening track, the deep, stripped back dub transforms it into a great late night groover!

4. Jamie XX – Girl
Super moody, super deep, just what you’d expect from Jamie XX

5. Max Graef – No. 5
(Nice list placement, right?) I maintain that Max Graef is one of the most talented producers in the game. This track has been a staple in my sets since it came out!

6. Beesmunt Soundsystem – How I Wish
Perfectly balances gritty rolling techno percussion with a playful piano hook, what’s not to like?

7. Gil Scott-Heron – The Bottle
My favourite GSH track. Always good to chill out to after a big one!

8. Frits Wentink – Goose
Unstoppable on the wonky-house scene, Frits Wentink has been putting out solid release after solid release. Goose feels slightly darker and moodier than Wentink’s other efforts, nice way to end a set!

9. Bodhi – Soul Seeker
I think Bodhi’s ‘I Need You’ EP is my most played record of the year.

10. Quasimoto – The Front
Madlib’s alter ego Quasimoto has always been one of my favourite rappers, this track seems like the perfect way to wrap up this list! Amazing album too!

Kitsuné and Magic and Medicine return to London with a new event Kitsuné Maison Party taking place at Village Underground on 18th October and will present a unique live show and DJ experience designed to work up that autumnal sweat.
Each time this year, the celebrated Parisian label release their highly anticipated Kitsuné Maison compilation and throw a party showcasing the new, exciting acts on the series. Having sold out all of this year’s Kitsuné Club Night series of events, Kitsuné renowned for discovering new talent and trends have curated this phenomenal line up featuring live sets from Citzens! and Nimmo & The Gauntletts, one half of Hot Chip, the en vogue Eli & Fur and an eclectic mix of established names and hotly tipped talent to supply the dance floor with an infectious dose of sexy house, electro and nu disco.
Headlining the festivities are NME favourites Citizens! , whose last album ‘Here We Are’ garnered praise from fans and peers alike, also taking the stage with a special live show are Columbia signed five piece; Nimmo & The Gauntletts, described by The Guardian as having “darkly scintillating disco pop with fashionista connections.”

On DJ duty is Joe Goddard’s partner in crime, Alexis Taylor from everyone’s favourite band, Hot Chip espousing his love of hybrid bass driven house and deep electronic goodness.

Joining Alexis behind the decks will be London duo, Eli & Fur, whose recent Boiler Room DJ set showcased their penchant for crowd pleasing, shimmering house. Two brand new Kitsuné signings, Danglo, described by Noisey as having a “breezy beat that soothes our slightly burnt, sand-coated hangovers” and Skream & Banga endorsed Davidian, will hit the decks with their brand of cutting edge UK bass house cuts. With such an array of in form artists providing the soundtrack to the night, this is one Autumn party not to be missed.
