Back To Mine with Gavin Turek

Grooving in the early morning light – what a selection

01. Grace Jones – Pull Up To The Bumper
This groove is undeniable and Ms. Jones makes me feel invincible.

02. Prince – I Wanna Be Your Lover
My absolute favourite Prince song and incredibly forthright….which comes in handy if you’re at an after party!

03. Blue Nile – Downtown Lights
Feel like this classic should only be played under the moonlight, preferably with a view of downtown LA; makes me instantly sentimental.

04. Sylvester – Do Ya Wanna Funk
If you wanna start a dance party, all you gotta do it put this on. Yes I wanna funk!

05. Giorgio Moroder – I Wanna Rock You
I was introduced to Griogio Moroder with this song…was love at first listen and the start of my obsession with disco.

06. Chris Malinchak – Stranger
I can’t get enough of this one; sounds like a new classic to me.

07. Shalamar – Make That Move
After the party, come home, turn Shalamar on, and try to copy all their dance moves.

08. Tod Terje – Delorean Dynamite
Think this songs puts me in a trance every time I hear it.

09. Toto – Georgy Porgy
I always play this song when I want to impress a really cute guy because everyone has a secret obsession with Toto and the lyrics are epic.

10. Michael Jackson – Human Nature
Best way to end a night is with this song. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll make strange choices…

Gavin ‘Frontline / Don’t Fight It’
Less than a year into it’s existence, LA-based label IHC 1NFINITY has already made waves having released singles with Australian pop chanteuse Chela and DIY dance producer Pictureplane.
It’s impossible not to become infatuated with disco-pop princess Gavin Turek. The LA Native is always clad in a hand-made 70s fringe dress (she has one in every color) and armed with the best dance moves you’ve ever seen. It’s easy to draw comparisons anywhere from Tina Turner to Beyoncé but really, Gavin is her own force to be reckoned with. Even the most apathetic concert goer leaves her shows revitalized and obsessed. Mayer Hawthorne was the first to take notice, not only inviting Gavin to open his sold out tour last year but also bringing her in as a guest vocalist for his new project Tuxedo. (You may recognize her as the golden disco goddess on stage with them this summer). She also has been invited to tour with Goldroom, Lee Fields, and Kelis.
2015 is an unveiling of sorts for Gavin. The year kicked off with a sold out show at the legendary LA venue Troubadour. April marks the release of her first single “Frontline,” a dance heavy homage to Donna Summer, via iheartcomix’s new label 1INFINITY. Late summer, she will release an EP of sexy electronic tunes with longtime collaborator TOKiMONSTA. Other collaborations rolling out this year include singles with Viceroy, Goldroom, Miami Horror, Gigamesh, and LCAW.
