Back To Mine with Gemini Bothers

Romania in da house as we rock on through the night

1. UNU’ – Lumea Viseaza

This track is compulsory for summer. Unbelievable Romanian music and the video is outstanding! Part of the so called “electronic music golden generation” from early 2000.

2. Pink Floyd – Echoes

This is part of history filmed at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy. If we had to choose words to summarise it would be: echoes of battles, intrigue, thunder, Kings and Emperors in time.

3. Miles Davis – Nature boy

Not only did this change how jazz was perceived, he made it possible with one single instrument, an old sax! Original, innovative, influential… cool model fusion jazz!

4. Sieg über die Sonne – Gone

This track is inspiring and influential – one of the earliest micro/minimal house records in our collection.

5. Faramita Lambru – Inel, Inel de Aur

In the communist era Faramita Lambru was one of the most known figures in Bucharest and beyond. He was invited to the USSR several times, and to entertain the top communist party and celebrities!  One of the best and known “lautar” aka Romani fiddler for drinking, dancing, smiling and crying all at the same time!  N.B. Check out his very fetching royal ring on his left hand – priceless!

6. Klaus Schulze – Are You Sequenced?

We still believe that trance music started with Klaus!  His passion for space and moog synths in one single personality.

7. A Love From Outer Space – Andrew Weatherall : Masterpiece

Andrew Weatherall is the biggest influence to us within electronic music. A masterpiece indeed.

8. Sabres of Paradise – Smokebelch II (David Holmes Mix)
Again It’s Mr Weatherall but a club classic by David Holmes.  We are still struggling to find this record for our record collection.

9. Celibidache in Bucharest: (1978) – Enescu: RapsodiaÓ Română

Tips and tricks: the famous conductor Sergiu Celibidache can be seen actually dancing more than conducting to one of the most beautiful and genius compositions of all time “Rapsodia Romana” by George Enescu. The communist regime and era was bleak but this special concert had been approved.  (Please take time to watch this epic footage until the end) a Romanian classic.

10. Garland Jeffreys – Hail Hail Rock’n’roll

1997 hit – very Massive Attack and classic Madonna with lots of good memories for us! A record that we never tire of.  We used to play it a lot back in the day.
