Back To Mine with Sonny Blake

After hours grooving…

1. Ennio Moricone – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly / The Trio
One of my all time favorite composers. Nuff said.

2. Burial – Etched Headplate
I guess Burial polarizes a lot in music producer circles with his special way of playing with different sounds, but to me he is one of those great artists that manages to make his own genre. This is one of my favorites for a long time now.

3. Autechre – Clipper
Great artists! Great music! Great inspiration every time I listen to a tune or two from Autechre. They have been a massive influence on my sound and the way I approach sound design. I just absorbed every tune they make, and this one is always in my home playlist.

4. This Will Destroy You – The Mighty Rio Grande
Probably the most emotional music for me. Iyss melancholic, its vast, its just beautiful and brings back good memories.

5. Boards Of Canada – 1969
A classic BOAC tune. Its hard for me to pick just one track out of so many good tunes they have – the synths and the melodies in 1969 get me every time!

6. Roger S. – Deep
Timeless tune that just never gets old and boring. It could fit in an a current DJ set without a problem. Very influential tune in my opinion and a good daystarter.

7. Falco – Vienna Calling
As a matter of fact Falco was the first one to rap in german and was always a visionary. He was always way ahead of his time and I have to give him credit for that. To me he really made some of the best pop music to this day.

8. Ahmad Jamal – I Love Music
One of those tunes that have the ability to clean my head after I get out of a 5 hour studio session. Good vibes, awesome piano play and the name says it all.

9. Herbie Hancock – TFS
My very first contact with Jazz and electronic music was Herbie Hancock. Even though the first tune I liked from Future Shock was of course Rockit I finally gave the other cuts on the record a chance and I have had this amazing tune on serious repeat ever since.

10. Noisia & Phace – Microorganism
To me this tune has one of the best sound designs in D&B. Minimal yet so powerful. It motivates me a lot to do better in terms of sound design. The intro seems like a electronic version of a Sunn O))) track and the way it built up amazes me every time!
