Back To Mine With Sonomic

Another long night of tunes kicking on ’til dawn

01. Groove Armada – Blue Skies (Inside My Mind)
This is my go to track if I need to chill or if I’m hungover. Everything about this track is amazing but the vocal really tops it off. I normally shut my eyes and pretend I’m on a desert island somewhere.

02. Lovebirds – Want You In My Soul
This really is one of my all time favourite tracks. Just a masterpiece of composition. I like lot of lovebirds tracks, especially “The Rain” but this is often on repeat any time I just need to generate some serotonin.

03. Digital Human – You’re My Last Chance
This is one of my favourites at the moment. This track seems to have everything a Nu Disco style track should have. Cant help but dance to this one.

04. Max Graef – No. 05
I love this track because its not just a standard house track and has loads of little breaks all the way through. Its refreshing to hear producers such as Max trying something different within the house music scene.

05. Wagon Cookin, Gabriela Smith – Playground
I can’t even remember how I came across this track, I think it was in a sampler CD someone gave me. I love any track that has its roots in house but draws from other genres such as trance and progressive. It just has a really nice progression to it and then drops to an unexpectedly melodic breakdown.

06. Cassio Kohl – Keep On
When Cassio’s Lost Sessions EP came out, I couldn’t stop playing it. This is my favourite track from the EP and maybe even from all of his discography. This one is guaranteed to get the crowd going, I have to choose when I play this at home as otherwise I end up just jumping on the decks and having a mix instead of doing important things.

07. Satellite Stories – Campfire
Bit of a random one to throw in but it is the song that wakes me up every morning. For me its a really refreshing and uplifting tune that reminds me of the great indie music that was being produced in the early 2000’s. Again I can’t remember how I found this but their music is definitely worth checking out.

08. Wankelmut & Emma Louise – My Head Is A Jungle (MK Remix)
Although pretty mainstream now, I still love this track. Its one of those ones that when I first heard it, it really caught my attention and for a while after I couldn’t go anywhere and hear it without standing in the middle of the room with my hands in the air singing along.

09. CKSNL – Orlando
I love the way CKSNL used the Marvin Gaye sample in this track. The combination of pads and a baseline that cuts through everything that you can’t help but nod your head to. This track really has got everything and is one that I still drop into my sets to get the crowd going.

10. James Welsh – Jungle Canyon Rope Bridges
I had this track in my collection for ages but for some reason never really paid it much attention, I think maybe its because of the long intro so I never gave it a chance. It gets played fairly regular now though and I love the first drop as its really not expected. I also love the main synth, I still can’t work out how the sound is made. I think its some sort of cutoff filter linked to the LFO…

Sonomic – Another Night
(Architects Of Paradise)
Architects Of Paradise is a new label that turns here to co-founder Sonomic for its second EP. Along with carefully considered artwork the EP contains three fresh and feel good house tracks that will send hands skywards and have hearts in a flutter.
Architects of Paradise says it will “showcase an eclectic range of electronic music from some of the world’s most talented artists. The music we release is built upon visions of summer, good feelings and good people.” That’s certainly the case with this EP from Sonomic, a fast rising DJ, producer and photographer who “wanted to try and capture the feeling of when the night is just beginning” with this release.
Up first is ‘Another Night’, the sort of warming, feel good track that makes you want to move from the fringes to the centre of the dancefloor. Lush chord, inviting drums and some careful, classic vocal sampling makes it an unadulterated winner from the off.
Next up, the vibes keep coming with the more energetic and bouncy ‘It’s in the World’, with more well-placed vocal samples that any house head will recognise. The chords here are even brighter, the drums pump and the supple bassline are will get everyone moving.
Lastly, ‘This Feels Like’ is a more techy and late night driving cut with crisp perc, eerie synths and lots of open space. It’s compelling, smooth and serene and builds to various tense peaks before kicking once again.
This is an easy to love EP that is produced with plenty of style, that focuses on the dancefloor without sacrificing any charm and that will win the label and producer many more fans.
