Back To Mine with Unai

Pouring liquid sunshine into your ears…

01. Ashra – Sunrain.

Manuel Göttsching’s E2-E4 is such a huge track that people often forget what he did in Ashra and Ashra Tempel in the 70’s. I actually find those records even more groundbreaking . Imagine the early morning hours of a midsummer’s morning in the Swedish countryside with this on – just like pouring liquid sunshine into your ears…

02. Beach House – Take Care.

One of the bands that I have been listening to most the last few years. Incredible melodies and moods. And then I haven’t even mentioned the voice of Victoria Legrand…

03. Rightious Vibes (Lee Perry) – Them Don’t Know Love.

Even though it’s Lee Perry’s more “pure” dub creations that has been my main influence it’s this more rootsy production of him that I keep returning to the most, just because it’s such a fantastic song.

04. Boulderdash – Window of Opportunity.

My brother played in this band together with a friend, they released just one album in 2000 but it’s still a timeless classic full of lo-fi electronics  and shimmering tunes.

05. Basic Channel – Radiance II.

I never really understood the thing with minimalism until I heard BC for the first time. It was like turning the key of a lock and the doors of heaven swung open. I’ve had this on repeat ever since.

06. Sly & the Family Stone – Family Affair.

That voice never fails to change my mood – and always for the better.

07. Banks – Waiting Game.

Discovered her only last year and realized I had really missed something.

08. Alphaville – Next Generation.

Their “Forever young” was my very first record. This moody and a bit darker track from that period is one of their best.

09. Gas – Microscopic.

Em:t was an ambient collectors series label in the mid 90’s that put out one fantastic record after the other. They managed to cover almost all different kinds of ambient music, and this cold analog masterpiece was one of the highpoints.

10. Philip Glass – Closing.

It’s a worn out cliché but composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass really makes music that is like a movie inside your mind.

Unai – ‘Human Empire’ album is out 13th April 2015. And his single ‘Stealing Time’ is out now!
