Buzz Chart Awards 2014 – Hard To Find Records

The clubs, the producers, the labels…the music

Tune of 2014

It has to be Higher Self Ft Lauren Mason – Ghosts

A great slice of 4 to the floor house music that has a super catchy hook. Expect big things from Higher Self next year if this is to go by.

Festival of  2014

Xstatic Summer Festival

This great little midlands-based dance festival is into its third year and the added extra of the Fantazia Oldskool arena really hit it off with the midlands masses. Jaguar Skills also absolutely smashed the closing set on the main stage!!

DJ of 2014

Hot Since 82

Seen this guy on a number of occasions and each time he was way, way on top of his game. A notable hat tip to Eats Everything also – been on fire in the clubs! The British boys are killing it at the moment.

Producer of 2014

Has to go to the Russian sensation Arty

His remix of London Grammar’s “Hey Now” was absolutely stunning, did such a good job on it. The recent remix he’s done for Porter Robinson isn’t too shabby either.

Rising Star of 2014

Oliver Heldens

The boy has come from next to nothing to the top of the pile in the last 12 months with a steady flow of club bangers, he looks set to follow on from Duke Dumont’s success last year in the crossover house / chart material.

Label of 2014

Suara

Any label that can keep with a release per week schedule and constantly put out big club records has to be doing something right. From techno and tech house, to deep house they always deliver the goods each week. The cat loving Coyu and his A&R team have done a brilliant Job.

Club of 2014

Such a hard one this but for me Amnesia Ibiza takes this one

There’s just something about that place that can’t be beaten. A very hazy 9am Saturday morning session with Marco Carola on the decks is a highlight from this year.

Podcast / Radio Show of 2014

Annie Mac – BBC Radio 1

The signal that the weekend has landed comes at 7pm Friday night and you get such a good diverse mix of genres from the Main Lady at Radio 1. Really glad it’s been extended to 3 hours this year.

Remix of 2014

The Arty remix of London Grammar “Hey Now”

Such a stunning remix and really opened the track up to so many dancefloors, the trance boys got onto it, the house heads were using it to add a melodic touch in their sets and even the big room EDM DJs were dropping it. Stunning!!
