IBIZED returns for a 3rd installment packed full of more house gems. Compiled and mixed by Spanish DJ & Urbana Recordings label owner David Penn, the album features some brilliant new tracks exclusive to the comp and a choice selection from the recent Urbana catalogue. David Penn will also be touring IBIZED in clubs throughout Europe all summer.
Hi David welcome to DMCWORLD…how are you today?
Good! Summer is coming, so always good!
Love the new IBIZED album. What is it all about?
Ibized is my concept of a summer compilation, I have included many exclusive tracks on it and other big songs from Urbana especially for DJs. My music has been played in Ibiza for many years and I have tried to show my point of view of the Ibiza music in the summer time, it is music that I would love to hear on a beach club and clubs.
The album is packed full of tracks from the Urbana artist family, tell us about your track selection on IBIZED 2015?
I made a track called “Back Again” especially for the compilation, it reminds me the tracks I listen and I made maybe 10 or 12 years ago, this special vibe of the White Isle. Also I have received very good music in the last few months and it was difficult to make a selection but I think the best ones are on here – Tracks like Hosse “Uno” will be released with another 2 tracks in the coming months or newcomer producer Goza with Lizzie Curious with “Back to You” have that special vibe. There are 6 exclusive tracks that can be used for different ambiences and different hours of the day…
What are your Top 5 all time Ibiza tracks?

Ibiza is somewhere you have visited many times. What makes it so special for you?
The best thing is the vibe of the people. As it’s an Island there is no stress, most of the people are on vacation and also the people that are working, they do it with a good feeling because they will earn more than in other cities, and when they want to have fun they have it all on their front door. Why not have fun!? It’s the best place on the planet!
You must have played at some great parties on the island over the years. What’s been your best Ibiza memory?
Maybe the first year I were, about 1997, when I was in Space in the morning (the other venue) and the planes were crossing the open air terrace making the noise something like the actual CO2. Also to play in Pacha many times it’s always a good memory!
On a day off what do you like to do on the White Isle?
Go to the beach, eat paella with friends and relax to recoup our bodies!
I little bird told us that you have been in the studio with the ‘S-man’ Roger Sanchez recently, will we be hearing a collaboration coming soon?
Yes, I´ve been working with Roger and its a big pleasure for me because I was very fan of him since 90´s. Our agendas are busy the summer so I think the track will be ready after it.
What’s next for David Penn and Urbana Recordings?
I am preparing more music, tracks with Candi Staton, Gustaph (from Hercules & Love Affair), collaborations with Sandy Rivera, Rene Amesz, Cube Guys… and new music from my other project Deux (with Toni Bass). About Urbana – it’s growing very good this year, I am receiving better music to release and more DJs are supporting Urbana music, so I am very happy.
