Galantis, the super-duo made up of Christian ‘Bloodshy’ Karlsson of Miike Snow and Linus Eklow AKA Style of Eye, this week releases its self-titled debut EP in the UK, via Atlantic Records. With nearly 3 million plays on SoundCloud already and having topped the US iTunes Dance Chart just days after the EP’s Stateside release earlier this year, the Galantis movement has taken on a life of its own ever since. With sold out dates at some of the most revered venues in the North America, including the Bowery Ballroom in New York, El Rey in Los Angeles and critically acclaimed performances at both weekends of Coachella to add to the #1 hit EP, the duo’s rise to fame has been almost unprecedented over the last year. “Hi Dan, we are in the studio in Los Angeles.”
A monster of a year for you two guys, kicking off at the Grammy’s, rocking Coachella, topping the USiTunes Dance Chart with your self titled EP! Wow. A great year huh?

So finally the EP comes to the UK via Atlantic Records, for our readers who haven’t checked it yet (where have you been?!?!), please talk us through the sounds of the release…
“We spent a long time working on the Galantis sound leading up to these six songs on the EP. We’ve experimented a lot with vocals, like how we mixed male and female vocals into one. This is something that became a part of the Galantis sound. We call it the Galantis filter.”

You have already released your follow up track to the EP in the form of ‘Runaway (U&I)’…again, please talk us through the music…
“The piano is the third member of Galantis. Defining ‘Runaway’ is like defining God!”
As debuts go, playing for the first time together at Coachella in the Gobi Tent must be up there! Must have been a proud moment for you seeing so many people knowing the songs as it was only 12 days since the EP was released?
“Coachella was epic and a very good moment for Galantis – we couldn’t have asked for a better gig.”
Have the fans started to bring their own seafoxes to the shows yet?
“Yes they have. We have been very proud parents.
Linus true or false? You originally thought Miike Snow was an American band?
“True!”
So you two hooked up, started listening to music and making beats. How early on did you both know a production duo was going to happen?
“I think we both felt that really early on. We just didn’t know what it was going to be.”
How does the studio relationship work, who takes care of what when making a track?
“We don’t have any set roles in the studio. We try to pass the torch around.”
The video for ‘You’ is awesome. I heard somewhere the guy who created the mask is the same guys who made the Daft Punk helmets?
“True.”
Linus – “For me, it’s what my whole life has led to. This is what I’ve been waiting to do.” So what can you tell us about what is coming next musically from you guys…we hear some collabs are a possibility and an album?
“Yes we’re in the studio working on our upcoming album. And we have some dope collabs with our friends coming soon!”
