Ibiza is a brand – and any successful brand will evolve and develop different revenue streams (it’s inevitable albeit regrettable how people strive for status through spending). Who has more fun: the ‘loadsamoney’ high rollers shelling out €9000 for an evening in Ushuaia or the San An budget ravers drinking San Miguel on the beach at dawn? Both are seduced by an island which merely reflects the values of society at any given time

The Bloom-Bieber bust up in Cipriani made me smile, the Gatecrasher fiasco made me shudder and the over-crowding of some nights reminded me of a child who’s told they can eat as many sweets as they want. The result is never nice…

Duke Dumont – I Got You will mark my summer 2014. And the funny thing is I haven’t really gotten to play it that much! It’s a bit too low key for my EDM sets, and it’s a bit commercial for my deeper sets. All I can tell you is that’s it’s my personal favorite, absolutely adore it!

It was all about the festivals this summer really! Clubs seemed to be way slower, especially in Europe. One of my favorites is Bootshaus Cologne and it’s still going strong when it comes to Europe

The day I landed in Ibiza for the summer walking up to Amnesia’s front doors…knowing I was walking right in with my DJ bag to one of the biggest nightclubs in the world to play a 1 hour set on the famous terrace before Sander Van Doorn. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that!

It’s not completely lost already but what happens is that everything is getting really expensive and commercialised. I heard that they’re opening a huge mall, which I don’t think will make anyone happy and in my opinion doesn’t belong on the island. There are still some club nights that are really good but in general its too much about the VIP areas. Lets hope the development stops and goes back a little

I have 3 if that’s ok! My first was playing at the 25th anniversary of Space closing the Sunset Terrace which was a massive honor for me and it was one of those special nights that will stay with me forever!! The second was playing the Opening of the Hard Rock with Chic and Masters at Work, it was an amazing party, the vibe was there right from the off and it was also a very special gig for me playing with some of my heroes!! And the 3rd was a massive thing for my wife and I. After being here for 7 years we finally bought our first house on the island which is something pretty special for us as it was a dream come true from when we moved here!!

It definitely feels like Ibiza has more ‘high end’ places than ever before, personally I’m not a fan but they serve a purpose for a certain crowd. What impact this has on the island I guess will be judged over time. As far as Ibiza loosing its magic, that will never happen (I hope), there will always be places, people, parties which fly the flag of the ‘spirit of Ibiza’!
