4 (7) ETML – BIND ME – 37 ADVENTURES

This instantly hooky slice of 21st century soul, with sweet vocals and an irresistible groove, is the outstanding debut release from 17 year old South Londoner Elliott Smith. Stardom beckons. http://youtu.be/jhd4gifS7Po

5 (6) TERRY FARLEY PRESENTS ACID RAIN:

DEFINITIVE ORIGINAL ACID & DEEP HOUSE 1985 – 1991 – HARMLESS

After much head scratching and chin stroking, Boy’s Own head honcho El Tel, has meticulously and lovingly put together 61 tracks over 5 CD’s. It does what it says on the tin, and it’s an absolute delight for DJ’s, dealers & punters alike. http://youtu.be/qGGnkiRYqD4

6 (8) TOMAS MORE – THE DAY I SPOKE EP – MY FAVORITE ROBOT

The title cut is a superb slab of first rate techno, that boasts strange sounding off kilter rhythmic patterns, working their way around creepy spoken vocals and atmospheric pads, creating the lure of the serial killer. LSD is not advisable. https://soundcloud.com/my-favorite-robot-records/sets/tomas-more-the-day-i-spoke-ep

7 (11) X-PRESS 2, HONEY DIJON AND LEO ZERO – KEEP ON / LET IT SLAM – SKINT

Peak time bumping house that has got that certain X-Press 2 magic and then some, sending the floor into overdrive with a vast amount of ear to ear grins and drink spillage.

8 (13) DAVID LYNCH – THE BIG DREAM – SUNDAY BEST

The legendary film director’s sophomore LP is more complete than his debut, the songs flow together better, they are a bit more out there but in a subtle way, and his vocals have got a certain Daniel Johnston meets Tricky meets Liberace feel about them. Spangled to the max. http://youtu.be/6tTDxSdudNM

9 (10) LOUIE FRESCO FT. LUNA – AUTOPHOBIA – No.19

The title cut from the Mexican producer’s forthcoming debut LP is an enticing, seductive and mesmerising affair, slowly building with heavy bass, rich atmospherics, subtle percussive dubs and Luna’s enchanting yet slightly tortured vocals. Massive Attack comes to mind. Art Department and Eric Volta take it to the dancefloor.

10 (NEW) CROCODILES – CRIMES OF PASSION – ZOO MUSIC

Their most accomplished LP to date is at the forefront of 21st century psychedelic pop, riding on hip shaking grooves and oozing bundles of fuzzy cool. Fantastic! http://youtu.be/jEnXVhsoumU

11 (18) PRIMAL SCREAM – INVISIBLE CITY – IGNITION

The original mix is a slice of 80’s influenced pop complete with hooky bursts of brass, B52’s guitar riffs and a very catchy chorus. Daniel Avery supplies the remixes and Bobby Gillespie sums this up rather nicely: Summer psyche electro. Sounds like ketamine music to me. http://youtu.be/z1-EhPniUAM   https://soundcloud.com/danielavery/primal-scream-invisible-city

12 (15) MAPS – A.M.A. – MUTE

The dazzling first cut to be lifted from the new LP Vicissitude comes with a nice house mix care of Legowelt, and a dirty low down funky number from The Invisible.

13 (9) FAIRMONT – AUTOMATON REMIXES 2 – MY FAVORITE ROBOT

PT2 Kicks off with a kooky little number care of Ivan Smagghe & Tim Paris in their It’s A Fine Line guise, as they playfully glitch, ping, nip & tuck Creatures Of The Night, complementing the dead pan vocal to a tee. Nhar floats Sara’s boat on a glistening sea with shimmering Balearicness. The My Favorite Robot team give Waiting some stripped back techno treatment, and Nitin & Clayton Steele bring the remix package to a close with a bit of percussive satanism. https://soundcloud.com/my-favorite-robot-records/fairmont-creatures-of-night-it

14 (14) LOUIE FRESCO – NEW HATERATION EP – MEXA

The original mix has got a dark exotic and forbidden Middle Eastern feel, working luring classical guitar, don’t look now synth licks and a fat slithering bass, a bit like getting lost and paranoid in the Souks of Marrakech. MK delivers a booty shakin’ funky bumper of a remix.

15 (20) LOLA COLT – I GET HIGH IF YOU GET HIGH – TOO PURE SINGLES CLUB

Dramatic debut release from London six piece, featuring heavy drums, screeching feedback and snarling female vocals, which have got a certain PJ Harvey meets Julie Driscoll meets Karen O feel. Powerful stuff. http://youtu.be/ie5cHAjK1Z4

17 (NEW) JUNGLE – PLATOON / DROPS– CHESS CLUB

20 (24) MAJESTY – I CAN TELL EP – AUDIOWHORE

The Carnao Beats Deeps Mix comes up trumps pushing the old school acid house buttons

21 (23) GABRIEL MILLER PHILLIPS – ONE FOR THE CROW – WHYTEHOUSE

Debut LP of honest intimate songs with a dark and slightly twisted feel, giving a sense of desperation and isolation. The album was recorded in Brooklyn with an impressive range of musicians that capture and enhance the mood. http://youtu.be/afKSgdvcZ8c

22 (NEW) VARIOUS ARTISTS – I-ROBOTS PRESENT: THE DETROIT PEOPLE MOVER EP FT. RHYTHM IS RHYTHM AND INFINITI – OPILEC MUSIC

Five cuts jam packed with classic and familiar samples, that have had the nip n tuck & loop n tweak treatment, then carefully worked in and around infectious funky grooves.

25 (NEW) LETHERETTE – AFTER DAWN – NINJA TUNE

A lovely fat slab of swirling electronic disco, shot through with blazing feel good sunshine vibes, bringing Avalanches and Kidda to mind. Barker & Baumecker and Bibio serve up a nice couple of mixes. http://vimeo.com/62976605
