Epic rave trap business. I really love Flosstradamus’ new direction. Hip hop in form with electronic influences. Play this song to transport people into the world of Blade Runner, Enya, and robot love making (the best kind).
Foamo – Vibrations [Fat! Records]
Vibes, son! Foamo’s next EP is madness. I got a sneak peak at the goods, and it’s all heaters. This track, Vibrations, already came out in July of 2011 on Fat! Records. So what it’s not brand new! You think I can be on top of everything? Who am I Jeremy Lin?
Goth Trad – Anti-Grid [Deep Medi Muzik]
Goth Trad’s New Epoch full length on Deep Medi Muzik is incredible. Definitely my favorite release of 2012 so far. He’s some kind of mad genius, always creating magnetic textures with the utmost subtlety and artistry. I’m waiting for the response song to this record to come out: Grid.
Lamin Fofana – Dubious Prey [Sticks “N” Stones]
Peace and nostalgia reign in this lucid offering from Brooklyn based Lamin Fofana. Childhood bubble baths, Super Mario 64 flying hats, and Snuggies for the soul are all conjured. Shameless plug time, Lamin also remixed my song Landing Boots, out now on Rad Summer.
PLS DNT STP ft. LAZERlibby – Raise The Temperature (Shiftee Remix) [LU20 Records]
I’m going to toot my own horn (this sounds pretty dirty), and say that this one is a banger. Probably my favorite track I’ve done to date. C’mon, help da kid pay for his debilitating eggplant addiction.
Redlight – Get Out My Head (Joker Remix) [MTA Records]
Can’t beat Joker. What a drop! My goodness. I want to punch someone in the face, but then simultaneously tell them I want to have their babies. And I can’t even get pregnant (despite what the movie Junior and an episode of The Cosby Show might lead you to believe).
Roska – 480bc [Tectonic]
So deep & dark. Love the techno vibes at 136bpm. Great music to listen to while you commit crimes. Trust me. Everything from shoplifting to light treason seems more dramatic when this bass romper is pumping into your ears.
Swindle – Ringworm [Swindle Productions]
Can’t say enough good things about Swindle. All his tracks are both fun and banging, melodic and heavy. Ringworm has become a staple of my sets, but thankfully not my personal hygiene.
Trolley Snatcha – Make My Whole World [Dub Police]
One of my favorite dubstep tracks of the year so far. You get the best of dustup and the best of trap/hip hop. Excellent transition tool between the two actually. Watch out for your trolleys when this guy is near!
Unknown Shapes – Used To Give A FK [Self Released]
Unknown Shapes’ If I Should Die EP is killing it. Grownstep bangers here, boy! Watch out on your google searches though. Unknown Shapes is technically spelled with funky triangles. Whiles funky triangles are known shapes, I can’t find them on my keyboard. Let’s go, Apple! Funky triangles on the keyboard in 2012!
