Third Party

The boys return with a mighty EP on Size

Interview by Dan Prince

Hey guys welcome back to DMCWORLD…where on planet earth are you right now?

In our studio which is here in Essex just outside of London, England.

What was the first piece of music you heard this morning after rolling out of bed?

The new Duke Dumont song which was playing on BBC Radio 1 in the car.

Exciting couple of weeks coming up for you with the release of the 5th release from your 12×12 Series, this time round in the form of your three track ‘Nation’ EP for Steve Angello’s Size label. Please talk us through the sounds and featured artists…

Very exciting, we have had Nation and Power ready for quite some time now so it feels great to finally be able to release them to the fans. Nation is a collab with Arias who is a very talented French Producer and also it features the vocals of Daniel Gidlund. Daniel sung on our track ‘Collide’ and since then we have always wanted to get him on another track of ours so we were very happy when he came back with the vocal for Nation as it’s almost exactly what we could hear being the right top line for the track! Power was first played by Steve Angello back in Ultra Miami of this year and ever since we have had many fans and fellow DJ’s asking us for the track so we wan’t wait to let it loose by releasing it! For us it manages to balance being a big festival banger but also at the same time have the groove vibe to it which works great in clubs as well.

On your way to Creamfields last month you claimed that “we have never put so much time into preparing a set like we have for this one.” Why was your closing the Size Arena so important to you and what were some of the highlights of the event for you?

Creamfields and especially Liverpool have always been a special place for us play, the response we get whenever we play shows there is incredible and it feels like a 2nd home to us. This is the main reason we put so much time into preparing the set but also because we have so much new material and knew we wanted to play a very fresh and exciting set for people to remember after the weekend finished. Probably our favourite moment of the set was playing the new Everyday Of My Life (TP Edit) we have made as that song really connects with the fans, also our intro edit of Power was another highlight!

What has been your anthem of the summer?

Purely due to the reactions we have had from playing it out live it has to be ‘ Nation’ .

The 12×12 Series is nearly half way through your task of delivering 12 releases in 12 months. At what stage of production are the remaining seven tracks…?

We have so many tracks ready to be finished, we probably have all of them at a 50-75% stage at the moment.

What are the 5 big tunes in your box this weekend…

Kygo – Firestone (Third Party Private Remix)

The vocal is so good it works anywhere in the world.

Felix leiter & Abel Ramos – I Owe You

Fantastic record, works great in festivals or clubs.

Pryda- Opus

Just Epic.

Matisse & Sadko – Memories

Great emotion in this track.

Third Party – Power

Causes good damage on the dancefloor!

Wanna check in with a few locations you’ve rocked this summer, let us know how they went…

Electro Paradise in Panama

Second time playing in Panama, love this place, always a great crowd.

Untold Festival in Romania

Huge, huge crowd, didn’t realise how many people there was in Romania!

Wall in Miami

Always a fun and intimate show, our friend Michael Brun came and played some b2b with us

When was the last time you had a really good dance to a fellow DJ?

Watching Eric Prydz in Creamfields.

Apart from the Series, any more sneaky remixes coming our way?

Not at the moment but we are always looking out for the killer vocals to remix.

What has been the most drunk you have been this summer?

San Francisco at a club called Vessel, we have a feature on our Instagram called ‘Jonnie drunk mode’ so head to @thirdpartylive and you’ll see what we mean!

Ibiza is nearly over for another year, it has been the hottest, the busiest and some are saying the most musically diverse it has ever been. What are your thoughts on the white isle this year?

We didn’t play there very much this year but heard good things, I think it’s almost impossible for Ibiza to keep up how busy it has been for the last 5 years so naturally there will be a decline but it always tries it best to keep true to the music and have a great diverse option for people to choose from.

And finally, been meaning to ask you this for a while now. Back in July you asked your Facebook friends to guess what you were watching on one of your iPhone’s. Most people guessed porn. So what was it?

Hahaha……we’ll just have to keep you guessing!
