Mr Newson welcome back to DMCWORLD…where on planet earth are you right now?
In my bed after an amazing Kingsday (national holiday in Holland) watching some TV series, and later on some studio work of course.
What was the first piece of music you heard this morning when rolling out of bed?
Well actually nothing. Oh well it was an intro song for series haha….
A brilliant way to start 2015 with your incredible collab with Bassjackers that is currently riding high in the Beatport Electro House Chart. Please talk us through the sound and history of ‘Wave Your Hands’…
Bassjackers asked me to do a collab when I released ‘Pallaroid’ and started working on something in Ralph’s studio in Tilburg. We had like 3/4 versions and one year later we came up with the ‘Wave Your Hands’ idea!
Can you remember where you roadtested the tune – did you know you were sitting on something special?
I contacted Martin Garrix and gave him the track. He tested it in his NYE set in New York and the feedback was really good!! I played it in some club shows as well before we signed the track with Smash The House.
The track has been heavily supported by the likes of David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Martin Garrix and Tiesto. Who are the names you always check to see if they like your new music?
My management, my friends, my mom and of course names like Hardwell, Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero…
Loved the photo of you on your Facebook site drinking from a Jeroboam of champagne. When was the last time you woke up after a night of partying and thought to yourself, of fuck, did I really do that?
Uhm last Wednesday haha. I worked on a collab with Kill the Buzz and Hardwell called him: ‘Yo buddy, what are you doing?’ Kill the Buzz told Hardwell he was with me in the studio. Hardwell said: ‘Okay you guys are going to party with me!’ So we went out in Hardwell and Kill the Buzz’s hometown in their favourite bar called Janssen. They gave me shots every minute. I was soooo wasted and woke up on Kill the Buzz’s couch the next day, and I was like where the f*ck am I?!

W&W, Hardwell and the whole Revealed team. We have also a Whatsapp group chat called ‘Clan 9’ with a lot of artists from Cloud 9, like Kenneth G, Jaz von D, Tom & Jame to name a few. All the Dutchies are one big family!!
You recently DJ’d in India…what was that experience like, that country is really flying at the moment…
It was such a culture shock for me but in a good way!
